Level 6 Beam Deduction Question

DD had a meet this weekend and had a good, clean beam routine. When she went to handstand to dismount, she didn't make it up all the way and came back down on the beam. She then re-did the handstand but into the turned position and dismounted. My question is, did she lose all points for that element since she didn't go to handstand, turn, then dismount? Should she have done the handstand, turn dismount all over again?

My dd also had a lvl 6 meet this weekend. She totally missed the back walk over and her coach she that because her feet didn't touch the beam that she lost the value of the skill plus the fall so about 1.3 points.

In the original post, they don't get credit unless they do a cross handstand, 1/4 turn, side handstand, 1/4 turn. But they will get execution deductions for any attempts. If she is able to perform the entire dismount, then yes, the entire dismount should be done again.

Technically you should do what gymdog stated, however, we cartwheel to side handstand if the first handstand is missed. Yes, they will lose a tenth or so for the first 1/4 turn...but they already fell. The chance at losing more than a tenth or two on the second attempt is greater in our estimation. This is all assuming that the first handstand receives credit as a handstand.

Bottom line...get in the gym until you can do 10 for 10. On beam...perfection is key.
