ok, some of my advice is to do yoga before competition, that'll relax and stretch you out. As for your busy schedule, are you willing to give up another sport for gymnastics, or was gymnastics that sport?

Your coaches just want you to do well, and so do you. Don't pressure yourself be competitive with yourself. Push yourself to do better than the last meet.

Realistically, no, as level 5 in 8th grade it is highly unlikely that you could progress fast enough and far enough to compete in the NCAA.

Would it be a reasonable goal to compete NCAA gymnastics if I picked up at new level five this year in 8th grade?
If you went back to New Level 5, you would really need to score out and be ready for Level 7 to have a chance to get up to Level 10 (colleges preferred level)... but some (smaller) colleges will accept you as a Level 9 gymnast. The object would be to get out of compulsories as fast as you can. Maybe compete Xcel this season - Gold or Platinum (preferably Platinum if you can do at least 1 B skill on each event) based on where you were in USAG JO before leaving. Then, next year, as a high schooler, you can petition to enter JO Level 7... if you have the skills for it since it requires video evidence. If you develop the skills for Level 8 by then, you could compete Level 7 and score out and go to Level 8 as a freshman. then, it would be more possible to compete in college.

Xcel / Excel is an alternative the the JO USAG Levels. It is optional routines no matter what level you are... your skill level will determine Xcel division. If you were an Old Level 5, then you could definitely complete the Gold Division (it is the middle of the 5 divisions and a good place to start). If you scored a 31.0 at level 5, you would be able to enter the Platinum Division (but you might end up competing against former Level 7 gymnasts). You only need 1 B skill per event in Platinum. You like Bars and Vault... Do you have a cast handstand or a clear hip/free hip? Either of those would be a B skill. On vault, you can do the L5 Front Handspring or any of the level 7 vaults. On Beam and Floor, if you don't have the B skill, Your routines would just start from a 9.7 ... but you would be surprised what is a B on floor or beam.

IV. ENTRY INTO XCEL DIVISIONS
a. There are five divisions of Xcel: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
b. For the 2013-2014 season, gymnasts that have competed in Xcel or programs outside of USA Gymnastics may enter at any division that is appropriate for their skill level.
c. For gymnasts entering from the JO program, follow this:
BRONZE - USAG Levels 1-2
SILVER - USAG Levels 2-3
GOLD - USAG Levels 3, 4, 5, & 6
PLATINUM - USAG Levels 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 (Although 8's are not common in this Level because it is a major step down)
DIAMOND - USAG Levels 7, 8, & 9

Hope this helps :)
