Back in 2014, flo was then called Gymnastike. A number of iCloud accounts were hacked, and private photos were stolen and posted in an online forum. One of the theft victims was the underage Mykayla Maroney. Gymnastike posted the link to the photos of her on their website.

We, and much of the gym world, was outraged that they would do this to a child, seems even more revolting now considering Nassar and his victims.

Gymnatike changed it's name to Flo and remade itself, I guess to cover their tracks.

I just cannot get past what they did to a child, never will.

Flocasts is/was the parent company of Gymnastike. They are now Flosports(thought their official corporation name may still be Flocasts), and market all their different sport network sites as Flo___(flohoops, flowrestling, flogymnastics, etc). I wish there was a way to know if any of those involved with Gymnastike are still with Flosports. I could never bring myself to support Gymnstike again, but wonder if there is a sort of statute of limitations for holding companies responsible for what happened under their watch. I honestly don't have an answer to that question, but agree that "forever" is not an unreasonble answer.

As I recall, it was actually someone from FloSports that posted the offensive information about McKayla. It was shortly after they had purchased Gymnastike and they didn't know (or seem to care) about the gymnasts, the gymnastics community or the fact that most of the athletes they were "reporting" on were minors. The associates that moved over from Gymnastike as part of the sale were the ones that eventually convinced them to take it down. The FloSports folks really didn't seem to think they'd done anything wrong. They were "just reporting the facts" (with a link to porn).

Yikes.

It was exactly this way. But it took weeks before it was removed. We banned people here, including a mod, for doing the same. There was no excuse for it taking so long, it was clear she was a child. Sharing child pornography is actually a crime. Those people should have been fired and charged, but as far as I know they weren't

Grace and Miri did amazingly well!

That’s right, @bogwoppit — there were never any charges associated with posting the links to what was confirmed to be pornographic photos of a minor. No one really seemed to care (except most of us), which made it so much more disturbing.

Based on what has been revealed since that time about the level of abuse inflicted upon the gymnasts in this country, it is unfortunately unsurprising that no one cared or was up in arms about this. It was as if it really didn’t matter, because it actually didn’t matter to anyone with any power to change it. After all, it was just a girl and we all know (to a horrifying degree at this point) that it takes a mountain of evidence of impropriety to even get a second glance. Everyone should be outraged at this point. But they’re not.

Asking this here since PAC rim photo made me think of it. Is biting the gold medals a "thing" in other countries?

Ok, ethical conundrum time. Would never pay the pro membership fees to flosports. But what about watching the routines on YouTube for "free" when they put them up after 24 hours? I've done this, but isn't it just as bad, since they are making money from the clicks?

It is a conundrum. But you are only human. I did not pay their fees to watch but if they started to put photos of the Australian competitors on youtube I would not be able to resist. I sort of feel like the competitors deserve to have their efforts seen.

I have been 'watching' from Australia via the photos Flo have been putting on their facebook page. They have published some beautiful photos, I have to give them credit for that. And even that is more live gymnastics than we usually get here.

Australia has sent quite a few gymnasts who are new to international competition and from what I can tell they have worn some very interesting leotards, and have had a great meet.

It is tough isn't it. I have done it too. But they get so little from a youtube click compared to a membership. But I do it much less than if I watched the whole meet. I will just watch the few routines I am interested in. Same with USAG, if I can see it "live" I watch it all, if not then I rarely watch more than a few.

However, it does go against my ethics, thanks for making me think of it.
