So i've been in gymnastics for 3 years now and i still don't have a fly away! I can do everything good and i have the timing down, but when it comes time to do the skill, i can't let go! I have done the skill when i was younger but since then, i haven't been able to let go. I don't know why though because i am not scared of flipping or even falling! Does anyone have any tips?

Practice drills like letting go of the bar at the front and landing on your back, maybe get your coaches to spot you doing it onto the low bar. You could also work on your tap swings and high back tucks.

Half the battle is mental blocks.
Sometimes you may have to throw it - don't worry what it looks like in the beginning stages we all start somewhere.
I can't tell you to 'throw it' because I haven't an idea what it looks like.

But here are some things to help. . .
Try some high tap swings on the pit bar to your back.
If all goes well, ask your coach to see if you're ready to do some into the pit.
Ask them for a spot if you feel unsafe.
