Won't let me edit my original post for some reason, but I wanted to post this as well; a video that shows a worse example and what I'm talking about:
Traveled sideways about a foot.
That's a link of my double full. As I take off, I'm leaning to my right slightly, which makes me travel sideways and thus makes things like 2 and 1/2's hard to land. Since I twist left, I assume if I'm dropping my shoulder early I would be leaning to the left and not the right. Why am I doing...
Looks like he's trying to do a side-landing cartwheel which (in my limited experience) is harder for kids to learn than a cartwheel to lunge. Get him to 1/4 turn at the end and land facing the opposite way he started, finishing in a lunge position. Hopefully it'll be a bit easier to land. Good...
Wasn't sure where to post this since I'm asking this to try and help my own twisting, but since it has to do with specific techniques I posted here, sorry if its in the wrong place!
Anyway, do you guys teach gymnasts to spot the floor and "look behind them" or to keep their head neutral?
For...
The compulsory levels have been explained well already so I'll just comment on the optionals.
So, optionals (8-10) have a scoring system made of 2 parts; execution, and difficulty. The execution, or 'E' score, starts at 10.0, and deductions are taken from that. This is where all the usual form...
You're right, that's why I'm asking haha. My coach is generally extremely conservative when it comes to learning new things like this, I was kind of surprised myself.
I think the idea is that we can do it without the Chinese taps and risk of peeling, and because no giants are involved we can do...
It will take time, unfortunately. Though before you even think about the walkover you should get your kickover on the flat floor. Just do lots of shoulder and chest and back stretches. Cat stretches, backbends with elevated feet focusing on pushing the chest back, etc etc.
Oh, also try taking a...
Just more repetitions on backbends will help. Also make sure you do lots of shoulder stretches; often when someone's back bend is not so good, it's from a lack of shoulder and chest flexibility rather than back flexibility.
And yes, generally the older you get the less flexible you become...
Definitely agree. Also try L pull-ups and doing straddle L, press handstand, lower to straddle L, press handstand, etc etc.
For the advanced guys we occasionally do something called the 12 series. It's super setting ab muscles. 12 V sits, 12 second hollow hold, 12 tuck ups, 12 second hollow...
