    MAG Venting - it's always something....Composition error

This place is awesome. Its nice to be able to vent about what happened without having to explain every little detail. (like what's a code of points and when he'd just be browsing through krc thanks! We are going to take you up on your offer. Just need him to write it out in a way that I can...

    MAG Venting - it's always something....Composition error

My DS is planning on competing 2 events this year in a level he hasn't done before, after almost 2 years out of competition and 2 surgeries. Its also a level his coach hasn't coached before. He is working around some physical limitations including a wrist that doesn't quite turn out the way...

    Parents Why

I have older kids but have followed the same priciples for all 3 of their sports - leave the coaching to thier coaches, conditioning only at home (the other 2 are a rock climber and synchronized swimmer so thats a given), let them know I love watching them do their thing, and that this is...

    MAG His diagnosis

So sorry! Unchanging xrays aren't a good thing. Is there a plan moving forward or is it just more time required? And the diagnosis of gymnastics made me chuckle. Could have used that one around here MANY times!

WAG Natural talent vs. hard work

This is where we are at too, but you said it way better then I could!:) With DS returning to competition this year in a whole new relm, I get aked what his goals are. Most people are expecting "He want to win, place whatever etc" but his goals are to enjoy gymnastics, keep building his skills...

    MAG Look what D did!

Ugh! Opened the thread thinking some new funky new skill too! Its great he is getting the power into his tumbling but this adds a whole new worry I hadn' thought of yet. The rebound is supposed to be the safe part! Hope it heals quickly and well, and that he finds enough to do to feel like he...

Parents Finally some answers- wrist injury

He ruptured the extensor carpi ulnarnus subsheath. It is a band of ligaments that holds the ecu tendon in place and against the bone. Every time he turned his wrist the tendon would dislocate and then snap back into place causing irritation to all of the other bones and ligaments on that side...

Parents Finally some answers- wrist injury

Sorry to hear this! Glad she is in good spirits- must be a relief for her to finally know what was causing the pain, and to know it is fixed. My son had an undiagnosed/misdiagnosed wrist injury that dragged on for a very long time. End result was surgery in August of 2016. It was a fairly...

WAG Any experience with a scaphoid fracture?

My son has broken his scaphoid. He is a gymnast but didn't hurt it in the gym. He fell down the stairs. He was xrayd the night he did it, but it didn't show the fracture then. It was 2 weeks and 2 xrays later that the bone growth was enough to see. 8 weeks in the brace then physio. It...

MAG Skip the season or compete only 3 events?

As the mom of a boy who grew quickly I feel for you. Ds had 2 years of fast growth (over 20 inches in 2 years) and all of the injuries that go with that in this sport. DS had a couple seasons that he only competed a few events. Fast growth and some nagging injuries made us question if he...

MAG DS and his enemy, the mushroom

Another Ontario here- and our level 1s also train 16 hrs a week. 2 and up are 20. It is not at all unusual for a level one not be able to make all 5 circles at the first meet. (DS judges as well- it's a hard event to "get" but it will eventually click) They will come, he just needs to...

    MAG Bicep Tendonitis

G's done other tendinitis but not that one. Sounds like D knows what needs to be done- hopefully he can "remember" it when it matters. Wishing you both good luck as he deals with another set back, and hope this passes quickly. Id send fairies but we haven't seen any in a long time...so good...

MAG I think he's going to be done.

Around here right now a standard mri will be 3 weeks to a month, if you add contrast that ups the wait to at least 2 months. Make it specialized even more and the wait time grows. Since ds injury is not life threatening, or acute it a super slow process. Three days sounds incredible!

MAG I think he's going to be done.

For us it's not jumping to the head of the line- it's abandoning the line all together and finding a new line, that is much shorter. Our changing where and how we do his surgery and scan has no negative impact on others, only our wallets. I would have it looked at again. X-rays don't show...
