    WAG Developing a training plan

So, technically there is a new head coach, but they will be taking leave shortly and returning in the Fall of this year. The other coaches are young and pretty new to coaching IMHO. Both HC and coaches working, but not together. The original "head coach" was released right before the season...

    WAG Developing a training plan

I was a WAG competitive coach from 1988 - 2014. I was responsible for compulsories through level 10. Mainly vault, bars, and conditioning. In 2014 I took a break and worked for a recreational only gym. Recently (2024) a friend of mine asked me to step in and help the WAG team. I just wanted to...

it looks like an old pole vaulting landing pit. some came on 3 sections.

WAG 5th position on beam ("beam feet")

Why is the rotation of the legs (5th position in ballet) so important on beam? Or is it? Maybe it is more dominantly used as a turning or landing technique? I would expect that when tumbling on beam the feet would be in line with the beam rather than the feet and legs turned out. I'd like hear...

    MAG Return to to practice

Thank you for your experience in this area. Like I mentioned we are under the care of one of the best concussion specialists in the country and he happens to be on the medical staff for USA-Gymnastics. My son is very frustrated that he cannot do simple tasks like reading or writing for more...

Don't get me wrong, we aren't taking this lightly. Our doctor is one of the Men's Program National Team Doctors. We are taking every precaution necessary. I was curious if anyone in the forum has had a similar experience and could share advice on how they delt with their return to training. I...

My 14 yr old DS is a first year level 9. Almost two weeks ago at a competition he peeled on his highbar dismount and landed on his head. Freak accident. After assement, we admitted him to the ER. CT and MRI were taken and came back clear of any fractures to the spine. It was diagnosed as spinal...

    MAG San Diego gymnastics

Meetscoresonline is a great resource to check competition scores. I'm sorry I don't have any information about the programs or reputation of the coaches in question. There are only a handful of programs in the So Cal area that can develop young boys through level 10. We drive about 60 miles...

    MAG San Diego gymnastics

There is not much in San Diego as men's gymnastics goes. Mission Valley YMCA has produce strong kids in the past. You might check out SCEGA in Temecula. Their level 8's and 9's do very well at Nationals

    MAG Southern California Gyms

There are a few strong gyms in the SoCal area. The top producing boys gyms in SoCal are SCATs, Gymnastics Olympica, and Azarian Gymnastics. SCEGA is right up there too. South Coast and New Hope have had good programs in the past and have graduated many on to college programs.
