Parents Is College Gym An Option?

Yes, I bet it does. We are close to a D1 school, and dd has been to their camp several times and knows most of the staff. The timing for the camp, though, didn't work out this year or last. I think I will try to make it a priority the next few years. I know that coaches from all over the country...

Parents Is College Gym An Option?

Honesty is exactly what I need! Her coach is an ex-D1 gymnast. I know that probably doesn't mean a whole lot. She has not coached any college recruits and had her first L10 last year (she's 14 and not interested in college gym). She also has a L9, 17 who doesn't want to continue in college. My...

Parents Is College Gym An Option?

Yes, that's what I was wondering about, if she even had a shot up against gymnasts who practice nearly double of what she does. It just seems she wouldn't be as "refined" (I guess...). That's great to hear about your gymnasts!

Parents Is College Gym An Option?

Hi! I'm more of a lurker than a poster and I enjoy learning from you all! I have a question, but background info may be helpful. My daughter is a 13 year old level 9. Her story is a crazy one... She started level L4 at 6, L5 at 7, L6 at 8, "skipped" 7, L8 at 9 (regional qualifier, fell apart...

    WAG "Elite Gym" or not?

That's awesome GymBeeMom. We are at a small gym and dd is the first one to do a double back in that gym in at least 10 years. And she is only 10. Coaches and I have been talking about how to keep her engaged and challenged because she has talent, just not sure what to do as we don't have options.

    Parents Hurt Toe/Foot

Thank you! We have another appointment Thursday. I will ask for weight bearing films then. Not a lot of ortho docs in my area so we'll go to the same one.

    Parents Hurt Toe/Foot

Hello! I don't post very often, but I read & learn a lot! Oh, and I'm really not a CGM, I picked the name before I knew what it meant ;) if there's a way to change it I'd love to! First meet of the season a week and a half ago my dd fell on her back tuck off the beam. She whacked the side of...

Parents How Do You Get Over YOUR Fear?

I agree with don't watch. For the last couple summers, when new skills are being learned, I do my best to stay away. My 10 yo dd is doing double backs. I admit, everyday I waited for that phone call about her getting hurt, but I tried to stay busy. ;) She competed the double back, back tuck on...

Kellogs Tour of Gymnastics Superstars - No Gabby, Kyla and McKayla?!

The show lasts a couple hours. The gymnasts came over to sign autographs for 10-15 minutes so run down after. We were in the 2nd row & didn't realize what was going on until it was too late ;) Have fun!

Parents How do you prepare for a meet?

Yep. And dd has had to miss bars a few Mondays after meets :-/

    WAG College Camps

We've been to the Arkansas one a few times. DD loves it and will be going this year if she remains injury free ;) Last year she had a torn hamstring.

    Off Topic Kellogg's Tour

Does anyone know how to find out exactly which gymnasts will be at a stop? We are going to OKC in a couple weeks and my daughter and I would love to know. TIA!
