Parents My daughter’s blog post about quitting level 10 gymnastics

Thanks for asking what is SUCH an important question! I feel like I could write a book on this, so I will try to keep it succinct. I came from an elite training gym as a kid and had teammates make worlds/ Olympics etc. It was very a very abusive environment. I swore I would NEVER let any future...

Parents My daughter’s blog post about quitting level 10 gymnastics

The gymnastics story for our family, like many, was a very treacherous one. It was filled with much glory and much sorrow. I think that when many people look at high achieving athletes who are successful, they think they have it all. My daughter’s story is one of many that on the outside looked...

Parents Full time working parents who use full time daycamp in summer - how do you accommodate summer hours?

I had 3 girls on 3 different teams and one summer their hours were 9-12, 12-3, and 3-6. We lived 45 minutes away from the gym. It was horrible!

WAG Weight Gain and how to "address" it with DD

My education is in counseling with a specialty in eating disorders. I also was a gymnast and had 3 level 9/10 daughters myself. Please don’t address weight gain with your daughter in any way. This could cause life long damage that is difficult to undo. Show her unconditional love and support for...

    WAG Qualifying to Nationals

Despite all of the “easy” comments about region 4, I feel the need to point out that 50% of the current top ten college AA gymnasts come from this region at this timeBrenna Dowell, Maddie Karr, Sarah Finnegan, Lynnzee Brown, and Lexy Rambler. Of course, let’s not forget the great Maggie Nichols...

Parents If you knew then what you know now....

Not a Chance! The negatives far outweighed the positives for all 3 girls by a long shot! My son was a runner-loved that sport. Everything about it was a positive. The parents were fantastic, it was cheap, you can do it a for a longer time in your life, the sportsmanship was great, medals based...

    WAG Sharing Leotards

I had 3 girls on team and at almost $400 for a competition Leo, you better believe I’d be happy to buy a used one. Between just Leo’s and warmups, we were near $2000 if we didn’t buy used!

    WAG Gymnastics is F*****

I know there is bad language in this, but it is being discussed everywhere I go on the internet right now. If this isn’t okay to post, feel free to take it down. I hope I linked it correctly, I am not internet savvy. This was very emotional for me to read, as I have a lot of gymnastics baggage...

    Parents Xcel to ncaa

I am SO glad to hear this!!! It wasn’t this way several years back when my girls were in high school. Our high school didn’t have a HS team at the time, but many of their friends from area gyms would swoop in and do both and dominate the competition. Nothing against those girls-they were Great...
