At least you guys got to watch it. It was on at like 5am here, and (in the repeated, identical telecast I saw later on), they only showed about 20 minutes of it all-up - two of Simone's routines, two Chinese girls and 1 Russian. Instead, last night, we got to watch about 2 hours of water polo...
We're an hour away--and have to drive over a mountain, too, which can be quite hairy when it snows (and a few times caused us to miss completely, because the road was closed). DD is only 6 so doesn't notice so much. I'm not looking forward to early training on Saturdays, though...and my other...
The thing is, hard work doesn't always get rewarded in the form of medals. Yes, they're shiny and pretty and everyone can see one around your neck, but they represent a moment in time, only. You never know when all that hard work might pay off for you. It might be at a competition. It might...
Lots of clubs now offer adult gymnastics classes - which are often attended by ex-gymnasts who want to keep up with skills, but who might not want to compete any more. If nothing else, it's a fun place to start. Tell him to give it a go :)
First thought was: what a sweet, confident, plucky little cutie.

I'm in Australia, too, but where we are, heat isn't often an issue. So it's leos and shorts for 100% of girls at DD's gym.
Some of the kids in rec wear tanks and shorts, and I think I've seen one or two in rec in a crop top and shorts. Mind you, I've also seen kids in rec in long skirts, and...
Could she maybe focus on making a video diary/vlog of her thoughts and experiences as a means of helping other gymnasts who might have to cope with extended time away from the gym?
Wow!! She is amazing! You must be so proud :)
Can I ask - and absolutely NO offence intended, because I know absolutely nothing! - but is it okay for her to be in weights, if she has a knee injury?
I have the opposite problem. I'm trying to extract myself from watching and I have DD begging me to stay. (She's 6 and has anxiety issues, including Selective Mutism, so I think she's worried she might find herself in a situation where she has to speak but can't.)
I just take a book or sit on...
