Parents Good reminder for us parents

There are crazies in all youth sports - crazy coaches, crazy parents, and oh yeah, crazy athletes sometimes too. :-)

    Parents gym recommendations RI

Aim High is in East Greenwich.

    Parents Bittersweet Day

She did great! And those are solid level 8 routines from what I have seen. That coach needs to find a new job!

    Parents Finished with gym

I am so sorry for her. We struggle with the same..I think we all do. Gymnastics is just so hard on the body and requires a ton of commitment for the JO route. Platinum/Diamond in Xcel might be a good option. My DD did HS diving while doing a gymnastics. I don't suggest doing 2 sports at...

WAG What keeps a girl in gymnastics?

For a second, I thought my daughter wrote this! She might re-order 1-5, but this is definitely it!

WAG What keeps a girl in gymnastics?

Love of the sport is really the main factor. Even with injuries, struggles with skills, bad or ineffective coaching, or personality differences with team mates, it is love of the sport that keeps them there. Period. Now, we need to define "love of the sport." That might different for...

WAG What level scores the easiest/highest?

My observation is that there are far more scores below 36 in levels 8, 9, and 10 than the levels below that. Lots of 33s-35s. I believe this is simply because there are so many really difficult skills, it is pretty hard to hit every routine with no mistakes. Plenty of 34s and 35s win AA in...

    WAG Level 8 Beam Series

Have you considered a series with a forward skill? Mine does a FHS series because the only BHS series she could do was HS-BHS...fine for level 7 but not for level 8.

WAG What apparatus most often keeps gymnastics from advancing to the next level?

Bars, beam, upper level vault, floor - in that order, based on what I have seen,

WAG L8+ parents - did/do you have home equipment?

Nothing specific to gymnastics. We equipment so the parents can try to stay in shape and battle old age. She has used that stuff a few times when the gym was closed because of snow storm. No trampoline either. She literally made up the choreography to her current level 8 floor and beam...

    Parents Chiropractor

Ours is a Board Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. We like a combo of soft tissue therapy, adjustment, and use of technology as needed. DD should probably go more often as preventative care, but she goes whenever something bothers her. He always gets her back on track!

WAG Press HS and Straddle Cast HS

She should work drills for CHS on bars. There is a something about being able to get your shoulders over the bars that can be challenging...even for a kid that can do a press HS.

WAG What happened with Jordan Chiles?

I think she is a good gymnast and seems like a nice young lady, but that wolf turn was a mess and even in her subsequent turns she put her foot down early on. I think they should have deducted much more than they did (says the mom who knows nothing about scoring and deductions :-)).
