WAG Question for coaches and parents. Move-ups?

If they'd share goals, I'd honestly be more than happy to listen. I will ask. She has not been uptraining, at all. All of other groups that compete L4 are. They were allowed to "practice kips" the other day. Without a coach present. The girls tried to teach each other. There was no coach...

WAG Question for coaches and parents. Move-ups?

Yes, our drive is approximately one hour each way. I have taken several issues with this gym. My trouble is that DD loves it. She does have a tremendous amount of pride in her often-first-place gym. And yes, it seems like these girls are the afterthoughts. There is one other gym that is...

WAG Question for coaches and parents. Move-ups?

Thanks, everyone. The input is great. Yes, it does sort-of seem like they're forgotten about some. The focus is on our top-scoring girls, for sure. I don't think anyone could argue this. Unfortunately, we seem to have landed in a gym that produces consistent AA champs (AAs of 37-38 - granted...

WAG Question for coaches and parents. Move-ups?

Thanks for the reply. Season ends in December. Not sure when move-ups are actually decided. DD was officially made a L4 last June (schedule/coach change wise). So, maybe then? But we "knew" they'd be moving up late last winter.

WAG Question for coaches and parents. Move-ups?

So... As I've posted before, DD is currently a first-year Level 4 gymmie. She's done ok this season. AA scores range 35-36ish. On Monday, her entire group was apparently told that they will all be competing Level 3s next year. They'll still train some L5 skills, though I guess. Is this...

    WAG Another Meet. Retained sanity.

Hi all! I just wanted to share... So, this weekend I sat all by my lonesome at DD's meet! I have to say, it was lovely. I met new people, chatted with my neighbors some, and had a much more pleasant experience than the last time. Related, DD's foot fully recovered and she had a much better...

Parents Frustration abounds - crazy gym moms and DD had a rough meet!

Thanks, everyone. Yes, these girls are all level 4s! Insane, isn't it? The moms definitely knew she fell as I overheard one say to another that someone had gotten DD ice. But yes, I can pretend that they didn't. :) Gah - clicked post too soon on my mobile. Anyway... part of the problem is...

Parents Frustration abounds - crazy gym moms and DD had a rough meet!

On repeat in my head right now: DD loves her gym. DD loves her gym. DD loves her gym. So, a few girls in DD"s age group are injured. One of them is our best girl. So they compete on Saturday. DD is not the strongest in her age group. Of 5 girls, she an another are pretty equal at #4 and #5...

    WAG Ballet class?

DD's gym has mandatory ballet 1 hr per week. They actually have a dance studio in-house and their own instructor. If you don't want to do dance, you don't do team there. It is at a greatly reduced cost compared to going someplace else - we just pay for an extra hour of "gymnastics" at the team...

    WAG Aches and pains

My DD is 8 and she often complains of hip-area (from bars - she tends to bruise there) or leg pain. Usually it lasts a day or so after practice, and I hear about it most early mornings or right before bed. According to DD, it's more of an ache than sharp pain. We use a lot of heat here - it...

WAG First level 4 meet of the season (actually - ever!). Judges Cup.

Thanks, GymBeeMom! Sglemom, DD was just simply thrilled that she scored 9s on those first two events. As I said, it was quite unexpected, actually. She was all smiles. She actually giggled at scoring in the 8s on the other two events, because she thought in her head that if she were to get a 9...

WAG First level 4 meet of the season (actually - ever!). Judges Cup.

Hi! Can I post this here nowadays? :) It's been awhile since I've posted, but I thought I'd comment on DD's first L4 meet, especially after she's struggled so much this past year (thanks for letting me lean on you all here). In discussions before the meet (due to DD's nerves) DD decided on a...

Parents Do any of you do two gyms for your kids?

Thank you everyone, all of your feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm glad to 'hear' we aren't alone. :) I do feel just a bit bad that I hadn't even considered DS at all when we switched gyms. I think I know which gym I'd like DS to try for the fall - it'll save me about an hour of driving total...

Parents Do any of you do two gyms for your kids?

Hi all. My DD is a current L4 gymnast at a new gym. She started gymnastics when she was 4. We switched gyms after 3.5 years last fall. She loves her new gym (whereas I ... like it ok) and her teammates and we are not in any way ready to move her anywhere else. So, her new gym is nearly an...

A parent question about BHS/ROBHS drills and private lessons?

Thank you all for your replies. While I've never been a gymnast myself, it does seem exceptionally logical that DD should have her standing BHS before her ROBHS. If for no other reason than safety. As a parent, that's my primary concern. She is still doing drills for her standing BHS, but...
