    Yelling coaches

There are some very nasty higher levels coaches out there! We have had more than one...

    WAG Bar deductions?

It is a compulsory routine, the kip is a bonus (replacing 2 glide swings and a chin up pullover), the dismount has the option of toe shoot or underswing

    WAG Bar deductions?

Ive actually noticed the same thing with bars judging Catou, Ive seen gymnasts placing first on bars who left out the cast entirely, and gymnasts with terrible arched casts who score (significantly) higher than gymnasts with good shape who dont quite make the height requirement, its a bit of a...

    WAG Bar deductions?

The competition organised professional photographers for this one, we were quite thrilled to have the slow motion copies! Hoping this takes off everywhere (could never get videos this good myself!!) She (and the rest of her team) got very low scores for their routines so I was wondering where...

    WAG Bar deductions?

Have seen all the wonderful judging explanations videos going around, and thought that since we got these wonderful slow motion copies of their bar routines I might try too! Wondering if anyone can explain what she might be losing marks on here (Its Australian level 4 so cast requirement is...

    MAG Held back for behaviour?

He was talking about wanting to uit and never wants to go to training. We have been on holidays now for a few weeks (in Sweden), where DS has been training with the local boys - in a smaller group doing a whole lot more uptraining he has been going really well.... loving it and behaving a whole...

    MAG Held back for behaviour?

He competed last weekend, and got excellent scores - but he still found the competition boring. The scores were meaningless to him, as he got a ribbon, the same as everyone else!

    MAG Held back for behaviour?

I have spoken to the coach a couple of times after class, he has basically said they will not change his level mid season regardless of scores or ability. The coach says he has to do level 1 because he didn't compete it last year, however as he was initially assessed at level 2, I can see this...

    MAG Held back for behaviour?

Just got to have a little vent/ need advice..... DS just turned 7 and is repeating level 1 for the third year in a row. The first year he was too young to compete, the second we chose not to as we were living interstate temporarily and chose not to invest in the expense of tracksuits/...

Explanation of current levels systems WG

While everything is changing next year and noone is too sure about the new requirements yet, Gymnastics Qld has the most information available - here are the summaries for levels 1 - 6 (1 -3 has some differences in other states) Pretty sure youtube or ordering through state gymnastics is the...

Parents slow and steady progress from my 5 year old

My daughters were so similar, now my YDD is in level 6 whilst ODD is repeating 4.... Initially it was very difficult however ODD has taken her time moving slowly through the levels, and has taken the time to score well in each level. So while YDD is the hotshot with higher skills that come...

WAG Gyms That Think They Are Better Than They Are?

I agree with what the poster is saying, and share the frustration - in Australia the NDP system is pretty much purely recreational, as the stream does not lead to international competition, yet I watch so many clubs who are extremely selective with their gymnasts, with high scoring teams...

Has anyone turned down IDP for their daughter and feels a little guilty?

We turned it down at 6, and the opportunity to cross over is still there at 8. A particularly talented gymnast I know was scouted and offered a place at 12. If she is truly IDP material there will be a way for her to cross over later on, most drop out by IDP5 anyway....

I purchased them from Australia and paid etc, after 6 weeks mine hadn't arrived and after no response via email I lodged a dispute via paypal. I then got a message from them stating that they had withheld delivery as I hadn't paid extra postage they hadnt told me about or asked for... ( I had...
