    Gyms that are open

Overhere (Netherlands) government has made a statement that sports for kids under 12 are oké, 12-18 only if 1.5m distance is kept between athletes and ONLY outside. Means all gyms are supposed to be closed till september 1st. Many gyms now offer an outside program for their teams. We see lots of...

WAG USA Gymnastics mistake in Maggie Haney abuse case leads to more frustration

Wow! Haneys suspension is a headline at the website of Dutch National News.. FYI; we didn’t have any other headlines than covid-19 updates since last months. Either they were just looking for something else or this is a big thing in sports..

If your gym opened Monday would you send your child?

In the Netherlands, primary schools and daycares are reopening in 2 weeks, right after mid term. Our summer holidays are definitely not as long as in the US, we got six weeks in july/august. Government plans on reopening secondary schools from june 1st. Sport facilities may be openend for...

    WAG More floor music help

What age are the girls? If they are juniors (11-12) you might want to usd some popular moves from fortnite to get them a bit more excited. Or use over dramatic music, like pirates of the caribbean and have them do some nice (you know, easy) arm movements and maybe a handstand to roll on the...

Parents Cringy instagram gym dad has progressed to suicidal

I just love them! I have read or seen in a video that dad started it when his girl was tounger and started competitive gymnastics. He didn’t really get everything that was going on and he wanted to make sure they would have a great bond, even though she was training that many hours. So he...

Parents Has the whole world gone mad?

Being a year 3 teacher, trying to teach basic stuff to 7-year-olds every single day, I just don’t get it that parents make their children train over 15 hours a week at such a young age. Looking at the children I have thought over the years, even the ones that are now 10-12 and successful in the...

Parents Osgoods - what was your gymnast's journey?

Good thing to discuss, but doesn’t have to be as ‘negative’ as it sounds now. I remember being in constant pain, that was often triggered by the things I did, but not directly related to it. My coaches (soccer ánd gymnastics) didn’t really know how severe it was either, since I would say it...

Parents Osgoods - what was your gymnast's journey?

Had Osgood’s for a long time. Started when I played soccer 3 times a week, at age 12. I remember always being in pain, but at the same time kind of being used to it, so I kept playing. Mom took me to the doctor, advice was taking 4-6 weeks off; no running or jumping. Managed to do about that...

WAG What would you say/write to my sad DD

I think the notebook idea is great; open up to her and give her options about opening up to you as well. And make sure you plan time to just be together; plan a cupcake-baking-session, go out for ice-cream together or plan a movie night out. Something that is not focussed on 'talking about what...
