WAG 2023-2024: List of large Level 10 Gymnastics Teams (10 or more L10's)

WAG Tour jeté skill value in DP?

A regular tour jeté is a B. A tour jeté half is a C. I think where some of the confusion comes in is that a regular tour jeté has a half turn in it and the half actually goes 360 degrees around. So if she is doing a tour jeté half then that should be worth the same as a switch half.

Coaches Trouble Raising and Lowering Vault Table

Ah I see. I suppose that's unfortunate since it's not our equipment and I don't have the skillset nor the money to fix that myself. Maybe we will reach out to the varsity coaches about it, but I'm not quite sure that they will be too helpful since it isn't really a problem for their girls...

Coaches Trouble Raising and Lowering Vault Table

For context I help run my college's club gymnastics team. We are a new team. We have been having difficulties with raising and lowering our vault tables. They are the same ones that the varsity team uses, but we are under the impression that they don't really change the settings often if at all...

Coaches Cardio Warm-Ups for College Club Gym

Does anyone have some good ideas for brief cardio warmups that would be appropriate for ~25 college-aged men and women with a wide range of skill abilities? Many are complete beginners but we also have ex level 10s. We have been doing a lot of basic runs around the floor, but would love other...

    Parents Competing in shorts

As of now, wearing shorts in competition will still draw some attention. But usually people know how to be respectful and keep their comments to themselves. Shorts are an option for appropriate attire for a reason, and I am always proud of individuals that are able to look past potential...

    Parents Level 9 beam requirements

Has she tried standing back pikes or BHS back pike? Also keep in mind that most gymnasts would probably lose more tenths on an additional acro than they would gain from it anyway.

Could a tuck 1/2 fly away count for a needed B in the bar routine?

    Coaches Forward element minimum B?

I believe a weiler kip is a D. It's like a free hip but forwards. Could potentially be easier than a front giant for some athletes.

WAG Cast-away kips (clear hip into kip) drills?

Usually dropping the feet before a kip is a result of lack of enough abdominal strength. You need more strength for a cast away kip than a regular kip. Working lots of L leg lifts (start in an L hang, bring toes to the bar, back to an L hang) can help those muscles. I did have a little bit of...

    Parents Athletic headbands/coverings for alopecia?

I am not very knowledgeable on this condition, but would something like hairspray or hair gel be safe to use? Maybe it could help keep her hair in place if a headband doesn't stay well. Also I'm unsure about this other recommendation but I think it's worth mentioning. I've seen gymnasts compete...

    WAG No Foam Pit

My gym was able to get through not having a pit by bringing girls to another local gym to use their pit when first starting to train skills like flipping vaults and double backs. Then they heavily relied on drills, creative equipment set ups, and spotting. It definitely is not ideal, but not...

WAG Do you actually need a back walkover to learn a bhs?

A back walkover isn't necessary for a back handspring, but if a gymnast is unable to keep their legs straight in a back walkover then they probably won't be able to keep them straight for the back handspring

WAG Beam connection/skill ideas for xcel

Keep in mind that for platinum beam there is still a requirement for an acro skill to pass through vertical, so a routine cannot be made up with only rolls. I'd suggest to keep training cartwheel and handstands and to try to compete some combo using them (CW CW, CW HS, HS HS, HS CW). Also...

Coaches Teaching BHS to Taller Athletes

Do you have any drill recommendations? I've previously mostly used drills using barrels, trampoline, and inclines, but we don't have those in our current facility.
