My daughter received bright orange luggage tags with the meet logo last year. At the time she wasn’t completely impressed but when we travel she always says to look out for the luggage with the bright orange tag with the meet name. This leads to us discussing that day and that meet which will...
I agree with pole vaulting and/or long jump. My daughter did both and has asthma issues with running long distances. When she would do the running part of training it was with the sprinting group which she said was never as much cardio as a cardio day at gymnastics.
My daughter was a level 8 gymnast and did pole vaulting her senior year. Would have her sophomore year if not for Covid. Her highest jump was over 9 feet which is not far from the minimum height at the college she attends. We tried to motivate her to keep working on it and try to walk into the...
The most common one I have seen is a bail to horizontal. Others have been a straddle back and an uphill. No one at my daughter’s gym does an alternative to the pirouette so I only know from watching at meets.
My family really liked Otherworld, it is very unique and will take a few hours to go through. As stated above the opening ceremony is an additional fun part of the meet. My daughters typically say the gym I gift is the best one of the season.
Back handspring step out connected to a round off may be an option. She would have to switch her step out leg on the back handspring but it might be ok for her back

I may be not remembering correctly but having a daughter who was continually hitting her feet before the bar in meets, somehow not as much in practice, I thought they gave her the deduction for a fall plus the form issues. Her start value would be flashed as a 10.0 which must have included the...
I agree that the texting about non gymnastics issues isn’t a problem within itself. I have known one of my girls coaches since I was 12, basically grew up at each others houses, and we were in each other’s weddings. When we text and get together we do not talk about the gym at all. Because...
It is very nice to hear how great her experience was. I did club gymnastics in college, more than a few years ago, and I am glad that the atmosphere has only improved over the years. I do remember once getting the biggest crash award from my non graceful bar dismount and the award was a tube of...
My younger daughter did weekly private lessons, with her assistant coach, during the summers when she was young, age 8-9. Mostly because she seemed to need the focused coach attention. Flash forward a few years and add in a gym change and amazingly no privates have been needed since that...
