I'm guessing you haven't heard of Tiffany Hyland. She is a sophomore gymnast at UCLA and she is 5'8"! If you would like to read an article on her you can find it here. Height shouldn't hold your daughter back if gymnastics is something she wants to do.
Well, if can get your feet on but don't make it over, try working sole circles. But it sounds like you are having troubles getting your feet on. Make sure you have a big cast and lean your shoulders over the bar. Hope I could help!
In Wisconsin we have a YMCA season and a USAG season. In YMCA only Y's can compete but in USAG, Y's and private gyms can compete. The judges are the same for both seasons, though the scores do seem to be a bit more inflated at Y meets.
No I don't miss school for gymnastics. The only people who miss school for gymnastics at our gym are higher levels. I think its pointless to miss school unless you plan on going elite. Yes, gymnastics is fun, but you can't plan on doing it for the rest of your life and gymnasts need to focus on...
