I’ve witnessed two 10s in the last four years. A L4 beam routine our first year and a L8 yurchenko pike last year. The vault was a thing of beauty. The whole audience was hushed after it waiting for the score. Everyone recognized perfection when they saw it.

I should have said too that although the run isn’t judged, a slow run will affect power on to the board and can result in a poorly executed vault.

Different vaults are better for different kids. Whichever vault they do they need a very good run though and fear will always compromise that. Mine had a good FHS and her tsuk is working well for her. She says the yurchenko is easier to flip but she doesn't like it as much.

Quick question...how does her mount get counted? Her coach had been checking around because it isn't common and most of the other kids do a press handstand which is a B. She thought her mount would be a C which I know isn't counted as such for a L8 routine but it's harder to do than a press...
