So... I used to be a Master Certified Microsoft Office Specialist.

Because of that I have gone nuts in Excel for Short Stack's meet results.

There is the first tab, a worksheet, which has a table that keeps track of the level, date, name & location of each meet, along with her scores and placements for all events and all around. At the bottom of the table is her career high score for each event and all around.

Underneath the table is a separate row for each level's (4, 5, & 6) high scores for each event and all around.

Then there are 6 additional tabs. Each of them is a line graph. Three of them are line graphs for her all around scores (one tab for each level) with each data point labeled. The other three are line graphs with four lines that track her scores on each event (one tab for each level).

I fully intend to keep adding rows to the first worksheet, and adding new lime graphs for each season competed.

So, am I the only weirdo who has gone this gung-ho in Excel? It's just something I did for fun, because I rarely use Excel anymore. Short Stack gets a kick out of it. She likes seeing how things change as new data is added.

I once put together a database-backed webpage written in php that I would use at meets to track scores. It all ran on my laptop (didn't require a network). I spent warmups loading in all the names and age groups, then entered every score that popped up on the scoreboard (when I wasn't watching my child). I was able to tell instantly where she was in the rankings during the entire meet. But that may have been a bit overboard.

Me!!! I too have an excel spreadsheet broken down by level with all of her scores and notes next to each meet (qualified for state, personal best, not feeling well, etc...). I keep track of her scores at each meet by pen and paper and then come home and transfer everything into my excel spreadsheet. I really should keep a copy of it saved somewhere else in case *gasp* something were to happen to my laptop and I were to lose it I would be lost!!!

Yay! I am not alone!!

Only way I record scores is when I text them to my mom & dh during the meet (if they aren’t there). I don’t keep any other sort of record of them.

I think dd has started writing her placement and maybe score on the back of her medals with a sharpie. Not sure when she started doing that.

You know how some parents deal with the stress of a meet by recording or photographing it? I deal with meet stress by keeping track of her team's scores. But only Shirt Stack's info goes in the workbook.

Great! Just to be clear, I wasn’t judging you, just saying what we do, as others on the thread did.

There is another Mom on our team that keeps a binder with all that info for a reason similar to you. It helps calm her during the meet to do it. And honestly, I’ve found it helpful when I miss one of my own kid’s scores.

I knew you weren't being judgy. :) I was just explaining why I do. I totally understand why others don't.

The stress of meets is horrendous. DD competed Friday. I video to help reduce stress. She had a fall on beam, watching the video it came to my attention I cursed when she fell. I need to remember to seal my mouth when recording.

Here's a snapshot of what just one page of Lily's excel spreadsheet looks like...this was from last year when she was a level 8.

I MAY be a little obsessed with Excel.

I have our team gymnasts' scores from every meet our team has competed in since the 2009/2010 season (full disclosure, I am missing the L5 scores/placements from that first meet that year).

Every year, I make a new spreadsheet... It has the girls in age order by level. I record all their scores and placements (most of our meets are NOT online) and what age groups they were in and how many there were in the age group. At the bottom of each age group, I have the team score on each event and the team score and placement. If a girl qualifies for Nationals, I color code her name. I highlight the scores that count for team. I color code personal record event scores and top 3 placements.

After all the meet pages (I prepare them all in advance and just remove the girls that scratch each meet), I have a season high scores page and update it after each meet.

I also have a page for meet workers for the home meet - the girls sign up to work a session and I highlight the session they are working and "X" the session they compete. Then I print it out for the coach that assigns the event for them to work. I do this for each home meet.

My last tab is called "min-man" ... it is mostly irrelevant since we no longer have mandate scores (June 2014), but we still "unofficially" use it if needed. I look at the individual event scores and all around scores for each girl each meet. If she made an event mandate score or AA mandate score, it is marked in the appropriate column (VT, UB, BB, FX, AA). At the end of the season, if there is a gymnast that had ALL Events and AA from the same meet at least 2x, I color code their name as a "maximum mandater."

I also have a separate spreadsheet for my gymmies for each of their seasons they competed (except OG's first season... which I WILL get from her ribbons when I have time). I am working on doing it for the entire team... at least those that stick around. This year, we have 2 seniors on the high school team that competed for us. For Senior Night, I printed theirs out on cardstock.
