So, are more girls able to qualify for "something" from National Testing now? Or, is it the same number of girls just divided into 3 rather than 2 groups?
My DD has had 2 different leg injuries and 2 different sports medicine doctors treating during her "career" as a gymnast. Both times she was told that vault was the last thing she could introduce back during recovery. So, I think vault is toughest on lower body.
Hi all. My DD (11) has upped her hours for the Summer and has been complaining about sore hips, knees, and ankles. She isn't injured just adjusting to the new hours I think. Has anyone ever given a joint supplement (for instance, Osteo Biflex) to their gymmie? Did it help?
Thanks in advance!
Could be either or both. At our gym girls are required to have a BHS series for 7 (generally, BWO-BHS or BHS-BHS, sometimes HS-BHS), and our girls are generally pretty strong on bars, so the series is what usually puts them at 6. About half of our 6s compete giants, but I can only think of one...
Of course if you are having trouble you won't be able to read this. :-). I get an error when I try to open threads. I've tried 2 computers and it is the same for both. It has been happening all week.
My DD gets wrist rips only when her cotton wrist bands are getting hard (dirty or needs new ones). She doesn't like it when I "wash the luck out of them," but when she starts to rip I do it anyway.
Have you tried washing or replacing the cotton ones? My DD didn't care for the neoprene and...
DD has had issues with both Severs and Osgoods, but never as severe as your DDs sounds. When my DD has issues she is only allowed to wear tennis shoes to school, takes ibuprofen for the pain, and takes Oscon supplements. Have you tried Oscon? It was recommended by folks on this board a couple...
That, plus some gyms don't do mid-season move ups - just too complicated. Generally, whatever level you start the season is what you compete. Many girls gain and compete higher level skills throughout the season.
You've gotten some good info. Just wanted to add that L7 can be "upgraded" to include some L8 skills. Some of the stronger L7s will compete a full on floor, a BHS-BHS and roundoff layout dismount, a clear hip handstand connected to giants on bars.
Best of luck!
Totally different world then where we currently are. DH says he is willing to commute, but it is something that he hasn't had to worry about for the last 10 years or so.....
Schools and housing are a higher priority than commute time. It would be different if we didn't have school age kids...
You guys are awesome! We actually are not set on the North Boston area. I know nothing at all about the area, and we would be coming from across the country. Someone I talked to who used to live there suggested North Boston. However, I am just looking for good schools, not terrible commute...
We have a potential move (considering) to the Cambridge, Mass area. We have been told the area North of Boston is nice - one city mentioned with good schools is Middleton. Any gym recommendations for a relatively talented, young optional girl interested in (dreaming of) one day doing college...
Seems like kind of a risky strategy for scoring out of Level 5. They took a bunch of girls and scored them out of 4 and then 5. They omitted an element in L5 bars, which is typically tough to score well in anyway. Isn't that double the value deduction? What were the scores like?
