    Parents Gymnastics Briefs

Just bought the no-show undies from pink. So far so good.

    WAG Level 6

That's too bad. Our girls picked their own music for the most part with guidance from the coaches. They would definitely veto anything they didn't like. Then the girls just had to bring them more options. Our choreography seems to be spot on for most of the girls. My daughter absolutely loves...

    WAG Level 6

Yuck! I am still riding the high from no more compulsory music! I think I would cry if our gym did this! Our girls are varied in age and personality and one song really does not fit all. I hope they don't switch for your sake.

    WAG Level 6

All personalized routines to fit their strengths. Why would you not tailor the routines to the gymnast? LVL 6 is so much more fun for my DD!

WAG Are there different start values in L6?

Same start value as long as the reqiuirements are met. The value, as you mentioned, is experience. It's best t make sure the upgraded skills are solid before competing them.

Parents Now is NOT the time to get sick!!!!!

Vitamin D is a great immunity booster.

    WAG Knots in DDs hair

One of DD's teammate had this problem her Dad brought her to a hair salon and they got it out. In the future, I would recommend a wet brush for day to day and Aussie 3 min miracle with a wide tooth comb for smaller tough knots. YDD has a very tender head and she can manage most of her knots...

WAG When are competition levels decided?

The new fall schedule was passed out last week and a few girls changed their practice groups to match where they will be competing. This has been the earliest they released the schedule!

    Parents Why Kids Quit Sports

So as a parent, how do you help with the fear and anxiety? My DD has been working thru fears etc. I have been observing a huge increase in drama feeding anxiety behavior in her group. Is this a common teenage group mentality? My husband blames it all on Dance Moms!

    WAG help....xcel/jo/gym switch

Maybe look online and see what age groups are represented in the new gyms scores? If you see a fair amount of 10 yr old LVL 4s, that could be a good indicator that they would work w/your DD. BTW. My DD completed LVL 4 as a 12 year old and LVL 5 as 13....She will likely compete 6,maybe 7...

WAG Part of gyms profit to owner/manger?

Bank Loans are pretty scarce right now. It is fairly common to have private lending ie he lends you the money just as any bank would. I would got that route if you truly want to be an owner. I think the first question you need to ask is do you want to be the manager or owner? Being the...

    WAG Teammate Drama

You ignore it. The less reaction you give the better. I swear she is just trying to get under your skin and if it doesn't look like it is working she will stop because she is the one looking silly. I know, easier said than done, right? Also, keep in mind this isn't about you most likely...

Parents How to handle this level of fear????

I can't wait to hear the answers as you described my DD's situation pretty well. At times I think my stepping back and 'leaving it at the gym' has been received by her as me giving up and losing confidence in her. For what its worth, all the crying at night, questioning quitting etc. has...

    WAG Eating before practice

My DD does not eat much of a lunch, so I make sure she has a protein packed snack. She most typically has scrambled egg-whites with a ton of cheese. Other times she has homemade bean/beef burrito that I freeze in bulk. She has never complained that it caused her any issue.

    WAG Flyaway fears...still..

Yes, I would say her score was killed. About 1.3 points lower than when she competed the routine in full. I have been looking everywhere to see what the actual deduction is and I cannot find it! The good news is she has 3 weeks until the next meet and came out of practice with smile and...

    WAG Flyaway fears...still..

After this meet, I am not sure the LVL 4 thing is such a option. Her level 5 skills are all there and when she can do the dismount the coach said it looks beautiful. She is well on her way to her LVL 6 skills with the very large exception of the flyaway. I think having DD compete the routine...

    WAG Level 5

DD seems to be scoring a little higher on floor, vaults and beam than last year, but I think she is doing better gymnastics :). Since she has not completed a meet without flyaway issues, I really don't know where she would land in AA scores. Her last meet was the smallest I was ever...

    WAG Lvl 5 Bars Deduction

What is the deduction for doing a LVL4 dismount instead of a Flyaway dismount?
  19. O

    WAG Flyaway fears...still..

Well the meet is over. Bars was last, the first three events went fine. The judging was tough but fair across the board. She would not do the flyaway during warmups so coach made her do the routine with lvl 4 dismount. Looked good to me up to the dismount. What's the deduction for subbing...

    WAG Flyaway fears...still..

Thanks for the commiseration.....it's really effecting her confidence. I am curious, how are your coaches helping her? Last night she was worried she would have to compete lvl 4 this weekend. She said coach had her run thru the lvl 4 routine at practice. I am not sure what to think about...
