Galadriel we do something similar, at the end they line up, say their favourite thing and then present/salute whilst saying "Thank you for coaching me" all together in unison. Little thank yous make you feel valued as a coach too :)
We got talking about names in gymnastics ie. Yurchenko, Tsukahara etc and how elements were named after people who did them for the first time, one pipes up and asks "So were round-offs named after Mr. Roundoff?" :p
They have badge books, each child has their own and they work through the badges, each badge will have 8 things on it, 2 from each apparatus, and each badge has progression to the next, e.g forward roll on low beam badge X then on high beam for badge Y. We test every 5 weeks and then each child...
I actually love talking to the parents! However there are sometimes where the timing is really inconvenient- especially with the rec classes, as much as I'd love to tell X's parent something she did brilliantly the next class is at the door ready to come in. We are in the process of working...
Gutted for Gabby's fall! :( And komova- not a great way to end your olympics. So happy that Aly's appeal was accepted and she got bronze- well deserved to Aly, such a lovely personality too :)
Gutted for Maroney :( Silver is nothing to be ashamed of though- such a fluke for her to sit down on a vault though! Love that she was smiling on the podium though- some gymnasts should take a leaf out of her book ...*cough Komova cough Mustafina*
Anyone else think China's kips are clunky? Their glide seems so short and the pull onto the bar seems like so much effort for them! :/
On another cute note one of my today was starting her vaults like one of the men (not sure who possibly Japanese?) in the AA yesterday did, by lining up her...
Exactly! :( Yeah I heard the USA guys didn't do as well as hoped- didn't see their performance though, was coaching :P
Same! Will be rooting for Gabby to take AA :D
I thought they really kept their calm on floor, especially with the pressure they knew they were under! We can't appeal the appeal can we? :P I suppose it's a bit difficult now they've given out the medals!
Surely the appeal was wrong? I get why they appealed was seen as a fall not a badly done dismount. However- surely if Japan thought an error had been made in judging they would have appealed as soon as the score was shown, not when they realised this put them out of medal contention! Feel so bad...
I think Weiber was upset as she hasn't made AA finals as only 2 gymnasts from each country can enter- Aly and Gabby were ahead of her! :( On another note loved to see team GB and USA mingle together and give eachother hugs- true sportsmanship :)
Loved it! Wasn't too sure if people watching from other countries would get some of it. I thought it was better than Beijing but being British I'm probably slightly biased ;)
