WAG Holding biased in-house meet to boost morale of team

Our gym does this, it is a "fun" meet. They are broken into 4 teams, with level 3-10 girls on each team and they compete against the other teams. It is team bonding, and little level 3 s have a chance to know some level 10 s. They remain supportive throughout the year of each other. Each...

    Parents New Level 4 Scoring?

We had score shock at the beginning of level 5. It did get better though, but you did see not as many of really high scores at states. You will see some. Also I think Va scores pretty high, it is always shocking for us when we compete in SC.

    WAG Repeating Levels

Sophia was/ is an exception, you can't compare her to "normal" gymnasts. I don't not think she repeated level 4 because she is the same age as my younger dd, they would have competed the following year at level 4. You will find very few girls with scores like that repeating, but you will see...

    WAG Repeating Levels

Lol, welcome to the state of Virginia! It is the way things are done here. It is nearly impossible to place at level 4 states, in your first year. Generally the unspoken rule, is of you win states you get a free pass to level 5. Some gyms, I noticed during level 5 last year had girls repeat...

WAG Please help me level 2 deductions...

There are a lot of points to be gained or loss with particular body positions with in the skills. I am unfamiliar with the new routines. I did notice in this routine the had one foot not pointed several times, when it should have been.

WAG Dance leap vs Gymnastics leap?

Isn't a stag leap, a bent front leg in the air? I know when girls are learning split leaps, they can bend their legs while going up in the air, before the split.

WAG Dance leap vs Gymnastics leap?

My dd has been dancing for 8 years, ballet, pointe, etc. She competed gymnastics last year, level 5. There was never an issue with her leaps. She had straight legs, ponted toes, full split sometimes greater than 180 degrees. It is gorgeous en pointe! Her split leaps put her front center on...

Parents IT Band Injury, Time Off, Blocks & Missing Meets

Another runner here with It Band injury. It happened out of the blue when I was running one day. My knee loss stability and was swelling. I changed up my workout, cut mileage and it seems to be doing well now. It took about a month.

    Parents Knee pain in 6yo?

At 6 I think it is too young to get an accurate description of what she is exactly feeling, how exactly she hurt it etc... I wouldn't be shy about taking to her doctors

Parents My 3 year old bumping up quickly, but what's too much?

I don't understand, why people ask questions, then if they don't hear what they want to, they get all mad and want to leave. Honestly in my humble opinion, which you probably don't want to hear, at age 3, I would take the money you are spending on privates and put her in something different...

    WAG Partial Judges ??

I wish our state is like that. They don't get 4 judges until optionals, which is the reason, I believe a certain gym is not as competitive in the optional levels. Heck I would be just happy if head judges from different areas in the state were placed on the different apparatus, or gyms hosting...

    WAG Partial Judges ??

I I should add, I don't think my dd scores were off, nor have they ever been. She scores pretty consistently though the season and scores about the same at states. She was very consistent gymnast, no falls or major mistakes throughout the seasons. I do usually see, however, if she was scored...

    WAG Partial Judges ??

In our state it is awful! Especially at compulsory states. One particular gym, places a head judge at each table. Their gymnasts would make several obvious error, like steps on dismount from bars, broken routines, like completely stopping after a kip and readjusting herself before the FHS...

Parents New Level 3 Parent General Question!

It is entirely up to your gym! Our gym will not allow you to compete unless you have all the skills. They feel it is a safety issue. We do have gyms in our states that do have girls compete without all the skills, and a lot of spotting. Let me warn you, those girls score really low. I have...

Maroney vs. Mustafina... Ya gotta be kidding me

ITA, but in the end it really doesn't matter, Maroney cannot advance because of the stupid 2 per country world. I think Kyla and Simone are stronger AA gymnasts then Maroney at this point in time. Mustafina is top 2 on her team, regardless how ugly she looks on a given day.

    WAG DD wants to quit:(

When my dd decided to quit, which was just last month, she told me, "mom, I am just so tired of being sore and tired all the time". How can you dispute that? She left to dance, but has been dancing for 6 years already, so she knew exactly what she was getting into. On a whim, she also picked...

Parents new routines competition soon not being taught..

I can speak solely for our gym, summer is spent on conditioning and skills. Once the kids go back to school, and the gyms fall schedule starts, the routines start. I think they do that because they have a better understanding of who the teams ares. If girls quit, they generally do that over...

Parents Not allowed to move to team...

My first advice is not to compare your child to others. You will never be happy with anything she does. There are many different reasons why some girls get moved and others don't, a lot of times, it has nothing to do with skills. What level does you gym start competing? If it is level 4...

WAG Coaches, parents... Need help on sizing for competition Leo - adolescent growth spurt

The company you are ordering from should send some samples to try on. I had a huge issue with the Leo last year. My dd was between two sizes. The coaches wanted her in the smaller size. I argued with them because my dd is a fast grower, 2-3 inches every year, she should get the larger. She...
