We went to Secret Classic in Chicago.. got cheapest seats by beam.. $30 or $35/each for senior comp.. soooooooooooo worth it.. if you get a chance GO! Even my older non-gym daughters absolutely loved it.. we are still talking about it! The view was nothing to complain about.. I found schedule...
STAY OFF OF CHALK BUCKET!! hahaha, gotta love him. there are only 3 reasons i can say i know what he means..
1.) alot of ppl here say it's kinda ridiculous to pay for privates for young kids.. dd had her first ever private yesterday and got her mill circle in literally 90 seconds of...
i would def think that CS is right size.. my lil one still wears a CS and will be 6y.o., 37lbs 42in.. we have a few mediums (since i was tired of buying smalls) and the difference between CS and CM is huge! CM is so big she can't even wear it..
the foily ones def do not stretch like the...
so happy for your dd! i have an almost 6 year old, she's the youngest on her team, too.. the other day at the gym one of her coaches asked her how old she is and then ran off "to check something". she came back a bit disappointed.. i said, "what?" she said, "she's won't be old enough for the...
lil one's first year she'd get so excited at when it was time for each event that she would start before it was her time to go.. no saluting, nothing.. on bars as soon as the other girl dismounted she would scurry up to the bar and pullover.. at meet number 3 the coaches started holding her down...
unfortunately, dd is at the best gym in our area, and at that gym there are coaches i trust and coaches that i don't.. dd has 5 or more coaches (crazy, you never know who or when).. some coaches seem to have their own agenda and some place great weight on age.. others seem totally subjective...
i took mine to a sports conditioning place and another gym with coaches that are trained in gymnastics.. used the excuse that it was for cheerleading (really it was).. i told her coaches about it after she had it.. they weren't mad.. but, maybe you should ask them first just in case. she's is...
i'm so happy for you and your dd! i had a similar experience with my lil one when she was near 4 and at a trial class, really, i still love that day and the way the GO made my dau and i feel.. he said, "who trained her?" i said, "no one." she was asked on team that day. i do not think that...
my lil one is only L3, so i can't offer much help or advice, but i so agree with you,
it is very difficult to navigate this sport and hard to make the right decisions, especially with the secretive nature of who moves up when and why, etc.. hang in there!!
we sell carnations at our meets.. they actually sell pretty well and aren't as expensive as roses.. i know at our last big meet we sold out before i even got there..
this hair bouquet.. it's just a presentation of hairclips, right?? not actually pinned in the hair in a bouquet formation? you...
yay, you! i think you did the right thing for your talented lil dd.. hope she loves the new atmosphere.. if she hasn't seen a lot of higher level gymnasts in action, she is gonna be in awe and you will love her face!
good luck with that mill!! my lil one sqeezes her hands while upside down so they don't get on top of the bar without a spot.. few of us moms though maybe it was harder for the smaller, lighter, young gymnasts with tiny hands, but i read here it's a lot about timing. she's been working on this...
Ha no, I mean omit everything except the pullover, bhc, and dismount. But, bet that she'd do better as is. I'm just praying they move her up.. Since at least she's 50/50 on her shoot. She has never done one correct cut on. It scares her.
i meant skip the whole everything.. the cut on the mill circle and the cut off.. she gets between 8 and 8.6 the way it is, but wondered if that whole part was omitted could she score say an 8 or 8.6, or better, with near perfect everything else?
ok, so say your cut on and cut off is pretty bad, mill gets a slight spot, but is in really good form? my dd is better at the whole shoot thru deal than the single leg cut deal.. and the more she tries to get that cut, the worse it seems to get!! i wanted to just ask the coach to let her omit...
