Does anyone else here have a Sports Acro team at their gym? Our gym has always had one, but it seems to be really flourishing this year. Last year 2 of our pairs made 2nd place at Nationals. They are a lot of fun to watch. We have a really good level 8 trio coming up for next spring and watching...
How much more can a gymnast take. Our optional team has had a tough year and we may be at the end of Gymbabis career now. First our coach died unexpectedly, that was horrible, and she wanted to quit then. One of the compulsory coaches was able to get her to keep trying for a while. The gym...
I'm sure I am posting this in the wrong place.
Our head coach is very ill, in the hospital. This was very unexpected, though she has been under a ton of stress lately. If those of you who pray can add her to your prayers, every little voice helps. We are so worried......
I want to make up a little journal for my preschool and rec kids. So they can put their after class sticker in it and also get stickers for skills and good behaviour etc... Does anyone else use something like this? I'd really like to see someone elses so I could get an idea of how to lay it out...
How does the booster club at your gym work??? Our gym has a booster club and we are always looking for more effective ways to fundraise. It's hard to keep going to the same people over and over "now this week we are selling....." That could make you feel like an Amway person. Not to mention that...
I love to see the kids in my class being successful and I love it when they get tested and are invited into the next classes up, but I sure do miss them when they go out of my classes! It makes me happy when they say hi before they go out with thier new coach. I've had some super talented kids...
Has anyone here ever tried to get a kid a gymnastics scholarship? I am looking for more practical info on the best way to go about trying. Gymbabi has not set her heart on any one particular school and we would like to try to get her at least a partial scholarship.
We have been to 2 meets so far. Gymbabi decided to compete the first two meets as a level 7 and did real well. Next week will be as a level 8. Hope she qualifies for state. Cross your fingers for us!
I have a level 8 gymnast daughter, and a 17 year old gymnastics orphan son, he is into motorcycle stuff. I coach older pre-school and recreational gymnastics. We have 2 horses, 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bird. Pretty much all I get to do with my horses is pick up thier poop, cause working in the...
Head coach gave me a tumbling training video to help me with my coaching. It is really awesome. It's Mas Wantanabe (I think) and he gives you the progressions for every skill there is and explains why you need every progression. I'm going to go back and re-tune all my kids forward rolls and...
Gymbabi went to another high school meet today. She won every event and the all around. I was a little fried when the same judge that gave her a 9.0 3 weeks ago and an 8.3 last week for a routine that was missing her giants, gave her a 8.0 for a pretty good bar routine with giants. But she just...
Has anyone in here ever competed usaigc? There aren't many member gyms in CA and I think there were only 2 meets here last year. We are hoping there will be more this spring so we can try it. It is structured a lot differently than USAG. Our coach says it will be a lot more fun for the kids...
Any parents out there have a hard time convincing thier gymnasts that they are beautiful. The toned and muscled body doesn't seem to be well received in high school. I remember as a teenager thinking I was ugly and fat and had hoped my own daughter would not go through that. She has a body that...
I know this is completely off topic, but I was just watching the news and it was talking about his Austrailia Zoo memorial. It made me sad all over again. I feel like our family lost a member. My kids loved Crocodile Hunter when they were little and still do. He had such enthusiasm and passion...
Gymbabi is getting ready to compete high school gymnastics for the first time. Anyone else out there doing high school gym? She'll be competing varsity b and we're really excited.
We just had her new level 8 routine choreoe'd. It's going to be so cool. Gymbabi likes very dramatic music and Laura (choreogrpher) likes really dramatic moves. I can't wait to see it when she has it all down perfectly. She knows all the moves but still working on timing. She has decided to use...
At congress I bought gymbabi 5 leos from different vendors. The 2 I wasn't sure about came from first impressions. I shouldn't have worried, of all the leos I got her, those 2 were the best. They look great and she really liked them too. I love the cut of them, they are high cut on the leg ( a...
