My dd is a L9. She broke her 5th metatarsal in her left foot almost six weeks ago coming out of a twist on floor. She was in a cast for three weeks and the bone was healing very well at that point. She was then given a boot for three weeks. It comes off on Wed. DD has been going in for some...
I am putting together different ways to condition with a broken foot. My daughter, L9, will be in a cast for two more weeks and then a boot for three and she is looking for a structured conditioning plan. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!
Hi. Just curious as to what the policy is in your gym regarding missing practice for schoolwork. I am not talking about on a regular basis, but rather maybe once or twice a month. My daughter is in 8th grade and is a level 9. The school workload is tremendous. She manages her time very...
Thanks for the reminder about 13 year olds. I have an older son, but it is true that teenage daughters are different!! I appreciate the non-judgmental advice. Very helpful.
Thanks for your reply. It is about gymnastics, not college. I brought that up because she isn't seeing the benefits of the sport regardless of college. She thinks that if that isn't a goal, what's the point. This isn't about us, this is about her and helping her through this time. As for...
DD (13, almost 14) just became a L9 and the season is starting. She was on fire during the summer and got all of her L9 skills. All of a sudden she started losing them one by one (she had a bad fall, so I think that was the starter). Now she says she doesn't want to do college gymnastics and...
Hi. Our gym closes for 10 days at the end of June and the end of August. Just wondering if any of your gymnasts do anything to keep up their skills when your gym closes. Conditioning is easy, but what about skills?
DD L8 has been training hard for regionals and her hands are a mess. They are really hurting, and limited her practice on bars this morning. She has practice again tonight and has to train until Saturday's competition. She has tried tea bags, used Bag Balm (which is usually great btw,) and...
My L8 DD has states this Friday. She has some tight muscles and tweaks, and with school and gym pressures she is definitely feeling stressed. Massages help her a lot. Any opinions on what would be too close in timing to Friday for her to get a massage? Do you think it doesn't matter when?
Update..... MRI is clear. Orthopedist says inflamation due to overuse. Took 10 days off..did nothing including school PE. Starting PT 3x week for 4 weeks. Anti inflammatories to continue. Can go back to gymnastics, but limited hyperextension. Just hoping nothing gets aggravated further...
We have seen a lot of this happening in our gym as well. One of the main coaches (former Soviet Union Elite coach) and coach for over 30 years said that the sport has become so competitive that they are pushing girls for harder skills faster and from earlier levels. He said that what our girls...
My L8 dd was having some back pain when arching and tumblimg. It has gotten progressively worse over the last two weeks, but it doesnt't bother her when she's not in the gym unless she arches back for some reason. We saw the orthopedist today. They took xrays and they did not show any issues...
Wow. I wasn't expecting such anger and arrogance at my post. I anticipated this site as a supportive forum and that's why I joined; clearly that's not the case. My point is not about having my daughter make elite. I don't expect her to to be given special treatment; just not bad treatment...
