I don't think I will be ever be able to....

I don't think I'll ever resist picking at callouses on my hands during math class. :D

    WAG Dowel Grips

Well, grips are supposed to last you at least a couple years, unless you want to spend more $$$ each time you move up. I think the "different tiers" of dowel grips, is sort of like this: -Thick grips often with two pieces of leather joined together. They're supposedly more rigid (doesn't over...

    WAG Dowel Grips

I'm not 100% sure what all the skills are in Xcel Silver, but I think there's a kip? Usually (from what I've seen, anyways) gymnasts start wearing grips around the time when they have their kips and/or skills like giants, fly-aways, sole-circles. But yep, if you have NO idea what your coaches...

    WAG Cheating

This could be more of an angry vent than anything else, but I kind of reached a point on the angriness meter where I need to pour out my frustrations... Anyways, I'm sick of other gymnasts cheating on conditioning, repetitions of skills. I will be told to mind my own beeswax, but...

WAG Cost of opening a brand new gym

The gym I train at set the budget to $30 million when they moved to a new location two years ago. Most likely opening a gym won't cost THAT much, but our gym (and a few other sports clubs) had to use much of the $$$ on BUILDING the facility. It was a lot of fundraising, phew!! And they just...

Training at two gyms? Right or wrong?

Ack! I'm glad you've made the choice to stay with one gym. I'm not sure if you can pull off training at 2 gyms even if the gym owners were BFFs. Gym B also will recognize you somehow (it's a small world!) and Gym A would find out promptly...leaving you out of both gyms. :( Does your gym have...

    WAG Unbelievably HUGE Brag!

    Yes!! Great for you :)

Any regrets (copied from parents forum)

I really wished I never stopped gym! I started again a few months ago after a year and a half's hiatus. I never ever ever want to feel that sore again!! X( It was a pretty brutal first month since I had (and yet still have) trouble with the conditioning and had to flop/drop out of bed each...

WAG How do you do your hair?

I have really thick and really long hair (I'm supposed to cut it, but I just...can't!) so to find a way to keep my hair out of the way is a nightmare. My mom did pigtails a couple times until I finally complained to her about thwacking myself painfully in the face repeatedly wasn't...

    WAG Favorite Events to Compete

First, I'd like to say I LOL'ed at that ^ part about feeling stupid on beam. :D I totally agree! My favourite event to compete would be definitely floor since I don't really get nerves and there isn't anything to fall OFF of. I mean, I could fall from a tumbling pass or trip over my own feet...

    WAG Conditioning before a meet

At our gym, we usually do a bit less so we aren't so stiff and sore the next day. I always feel not at my best when we have back to back training days since my body needs some time to heal. But if the meet is in 2 days, we just do the regular conditioning, but our coach isn't as strict about it.

    WAG Funny things - preteam

Well, when I was in pre-comp/pre-team (ah, whatever you call it! XD), my coaches then had a big chart where we would stick in stickers or stamps for getting a new skill, coming to gym on time, helping out, etc and when one row was filled, we would get to choose a prize from a box filled with...

    Floor Music

Aha, okay! Sorry. It's just that I've never heard it at a meet before and didn't know it was so overused, haha. I've seen mainly the pink panther theme and pop songs here...:bored: Oh well

    Floor Music

Woah! Lucky, I've always wanted Requiem for a Dream as my floor music. :) But based on your previous music, I'm guessing you want something more mature and elegant, not mainstream looped dubstep. Personally, I like music from the Pirates of the Caribbean (The Black Pearl is a good one...search...

WAG What do they talk about?

Usually in my experiences they just take attendance and give us our starting orders. Then tell us how long we have to warm up followed with a "good luck ladies". With the younger gymnasts I've seen them ask how they were, likely to try to seem more friendly to help the girls calm down a little...

    WAG Front tuck trouble!

So I've been having issues with my front tucks for a while... They were never good but now I need them to be near perfect if I want to move up. I'm not sure what the problem is since on the tumble track I do them decent and on the rod floor they aren't bad. But on the floor it's erm, bum drop...

WAG What does your gym do to make your home meet special?

My old gym used to give us free pizza (2 slices!) and juice. :) And they made the favour bags stuffed to the MAX with lip gloss, hair ties, granola bars, hair clips, hair bands, lip balm... Basically, they made sure to satisfy the interests of girls from the ages of 8-16 (Seriously, you cannot...

WAG What do you eat before you go to gym?

I have a really grouchy and moody digestive tract (grrr...) so I usually have some bread to "stabilize" it and then an apple along with a few mouthfuls of water. Keeps me going for a few hours until break and doesn't slosh around. :)

    Reminders from your coach

Interesting! But just 3 reminders? Aww 1. Tight!!! 2. Don't make that face. Smile. 3. SQUEEZE your bum! Nice thread, btw:)

    WAG shoulder... uchh

Ice it for sure and do a little bit of mild stretching. If it still hurts right now after a week since you fell, it's a good idea to go to the doctor though. If it doesn't hurt so much now, it will later when it causes more issues. Like other posters, better safe than sorry!! Good luck and get...
