So Jade Carey and Trinity Thomas declined invites to the selection camp, and are, I presume, not going to compete this year at Worlds at all.
Everything still seems murky to me on how one can get to the next Olympic Games, but I do know that the reasoning of these 2 ladies has to do with their...
When partaking in another thread, I did some googling and found this story:
AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT SCANDAL, OUSTED U.S. GYMNASTICS LEADER GETS BIG PAYDAY (Newsweek, June 2017, click on title for story)
So bascially, Steve Penny got approx. $1M in a severance package for doing his part in the...
This had to be a tough decision to retire from Elite, but thankfully she can continue out her career as a L10 and then move on to NCAA:

There are a handful of us on the CB who are Norah Flatley fans, and this inspiring young lady - a true beam queen! -...
It's a big Regionals weekend, so I was looking at the data around the country for this year.
I find this crazy: It has to do with the number of qualifiers at L9 and L10 moving to nationals....
(I know this came in discussion a while back ago, and was REALLY hoping things changed. It appears...
I've noticed so many posts where parents mention that they and their kids love the end of the comp season when uptraining begins and the kids learn new skills. BUT, I have never had the pleasure of this.
I was inspired by another post to give a shout out to any parents whose kids are the exact...

This came up as a top general news story. Not a good headline at all.
Someone needs to be proactive and make sure that USA Gym is one step ahead of the press. If they were expected to be at the...
I am trying to figure out for floor and beam - what would be typical for a first year L9 to compete at a minimum? (ie a competent but not a strong L9 on the spectrum of skill difficulty.)
And what would be expected skills for a L9 who has been at the level for two or three years, getting ready...
A whole new world is opening up this season - Level 8 and the potential (and the goal!) of making it to regionals.
I know in some parts of the country, there is simply a minimum score (such as a 34AA) that a gymnast needs to make it to regionals. Some also have the "Super 8" or similar at the...
It's fun to see the list of who is at the Ranch for training camp (just kicked off a couple of days ago).
Valeri is of course leading the camp, and we have the new Code of Points coming into play in 2017.
ATTENDEES:
Shania Adams, Buckeye
Sloane Blakely, WOGA
Jordan Chiles, Naydenov
Christina...
I am trying to understand what is going on within USA Gymnastics as to how and why the men vs. women are organized and managed so differently. We certainly see they compete very differently, and get such different results - as Laurie Hernandez's dad points out in this interesting article, the...
While of course the USA ladies just stole the show..... here is a heads up that the Netherlands is in the US's qualification group, and the artistry of some of their gymnasts is something to behold.
The Wevers twins especially wowed me on floor and beam - really worth seeking these athletes...
This is a great 10 min. video that brings us all up to date with where Jordyn is now and what she's up to at UCLA (and she is training for the tour after the Olympics).
I knew a bit about her manager position at UCLA with the women's team, but I wasn't completely clear on how pro gymnasts...
USA Women's Gymnastics continues to go mainstream in this Olympic year, with an article in today's Wall Street Journal about the future of the team after Rio - who will take the reins after Martha? And how will the direction of the team change...
GREAT article about Laurie from Saturday - includes insight into selection of Olympic Team.

A couple of great quotes to point out:
“She’s {Laurie's} going to be the fourth or fifth in, or the first...
So the National Camp is wrapping up, and some of the injured are back, hopefully at 100% again -
So happy to see Norah Flatley return! (and is this Bailie's first camp in a while?)
This is the last national team camp until the one right before Rio - so a big deal for sure. Still wondering if...
So I did get tix for DD and me to attend the AT&T American Cup 3/5 in Newark - we are excited to go. I for the life of me cannot figure out exactly what this is and what we will be seeing. (it was through our gym that we got the tix - so I didn't do a lot of research ahead of time....seems like...
So I am the one at our team to try to figure out how to get an upcoming meet - a couple of months away - listed as an 'upcoming meet' on mymeetscores.com. I've been all over the site, but it sure isn't clear to me how to add the name and dates for an upcoming meets=.....
Thanks to anyone who...
Who are the standouts in terms of presentation and artistry? I have only seen a handful of floor and beam routines from this years P&G, but thus far Laurie Hernandez's floor routine certainly had more sass and artistry than many routines I have seen of late.
Others you suggest that stand out in...
DD is now entering optionals - a whole new world. To date, she has moved through one level a year, and has done so very successfully (meaning had fun, gained new skills and confidence along the way, and placed well at meets as icing on the cake).
My question is about the difference in levels...
