Parents How long would you wait?

I can understand how there are delays, especially right now; but I'd also consider looking at some other gyms.

WAG Sprained toe recovery / travel meet

OMG. Yes. My DD sprained her big toe in December. I think that she will be scratching her meet next weekend. It won't heal. It seems like such a minor injury but it won't get better. No advice since we can't get past it. She has done a boot, chiropractor, laser therapy, rest...

    WAG More 6's, less 5's

Several years ago my DD did one L5 meet and then just competed 6. It is really common in R8. In fact our state meet had barely any L5s last year.

Parents Bringing in your own coach

This is honestly really odd IMO. If they can't provide a coach for your child's level I'd be looking for a new gym. That being said, I'm not sure why corrections for boys would be different than for girls. My son has had many coaches who coache both girls and boys and has even had some great...

    WAG Wrist pain?

Try skids for beam. My son missed 7 months due to gymnast wrists/fractures in both wrists. It is fine to miss a season, just let her keep conditioning. But her coach has to respect the limitations and has to understand ntgat with the wrist history your DD will be wearing wrist supports.

    Parents Question about judging favoritism?

I read your post to my DD and her eyes bugged out of her head. She said, "you just finish your routine. It isn't a big deal. Parents should never ask judges about scoring stuff at.a.meet". I'm sorry, but you come across as a sore loser and a CGM here. You shouldn't approach a judge about scores...

    MAG Meets

For my son, they do one travel meet per year and about 5 local (60 miles or closer). That is for the L7-L10 boys. For my DD they do 2 travel meets and I think 4 sixty mile or closer meets (L6+). For both, the lower levels do local.

    Parents Reason to go on..

Honestly, I'd probably tell he it is best to step down to doing the equivalent of US JO L10. I wouldn't go into debt and have her miss that much of her life for something that is unlikely to go anywhere. There are many girls in the US who start out elite track and then back off to do L10...

    MAG Meets

Ah crap, one of the coaches had mentioned to him about doing it, but I just looked at the requirements. He won't be old enough in real life, though is is per USAG competition age. ;) so I don't know what they will do. I guess fingers will have to be crossed that the other session finshes early...

    MAG Meets

They are trying to get that done asap. The way the schedule is set up they don't have anyone to work with the 6s for the start of warmups if he doesn't get it done.

    Parents Reason to go on..

I don't know much at all about gymnastcs in Australia and from what you describe, I'm not sure that i'd consider it worth my DD's time or my money to pursue elite, but there is definite value in continuing gymnastics even with no chance for elite. My kids don't have a shot at the Olympics or...

    MAG Meets

It has been!!! We know that you haven't booked yet, but do you have an idea yet? My son is Friday night, he is going to warm our L6s up at like 2:00 Friday because both of our coaches will be in sessions then. We will get there Wednesday. Currently the plan is to go to the Grand canyon...

    MAG Meets

We are doing mostly local (though there are some fairly large local ones) and Black Jack.

    WAG USAG enforcing leotard policy

I'm sorry, that Leo is awful. My DD doesn't like her comp leo this year, but it isn't something to move gyms over. That Leo though, we'd be out the door the minute that they handed them out. I don't care how amazing the gym is supposed to be, my DD would never be willing to wear that even if I...

    Identity Crisis

Definite look for an NAIGC club team that is a drivable distance from you. I bet it would be a great fit!

    WAG Pros of Being Tall

While true that it is technique, it is also true that a shorter gymnast can have little more forgiveness in technique on these skills than a tall gymnast. For those gymnasts who are 5'5" or taller there is very little wiggle room for technique on things as "simple" as a drop kip.

    WAG Medal presentation

It m pretty sure that for my kids (2 girls and a boy) that the medals have usually just been handed to them. The trend now is to have the kids get their medals in a separate area and then they march out with their medals already on and they line up accordingly

Parents Child in DDs age group passed her out skill & performance wise, coach playing favorites

I've been wondering about a troll since last week. Just in case I try giving advice, but the thought has certainly been there.

Parents Child in DDs age group passed her out skill & performance wise, coach playing favorites

Were other kids given mentions in the posts with your daughter every time? Were all of her teammates given recognition in the recent past and only your daughter excluded? It sounds like it was just Jess this time and that there have been plenty of times that it has been only your daughter. Maybe...

Parents Child in DDs age group passed her out skill & performance wise, coach playing favorites

What about the other girls on the team. Have you ever thought how all of them must have felt all of this time? Your DD sounds like she has gotten plenty of time in the spotlight. Let Jess have this. Don't begrudge a kid their time to shine. Work on being happy for each of the kids'...
