Has anyone seen the guardian article regarding a BG coach under investigation over abuse claims??!!!
Absolutely awful!! Sounds like it's a London based club if the met police are investigating...
Hi everyone, hope everyones preperation for the new regional club grades is going well. My gymnasts are preparing for the new club grade 6 with their comp coming up very soon, but there's a few things they're struggling with and I could do with some advice.
The girls are really struggling with...
I struggle with form with my girls. But one things that helped was going through the corrections. I was finding that they would apply the corrections when I reminded them but rushed and were messy when I wasn't there reminding. So i asked them what I would ask them to do, ie stretch before you...
Thank you for the responses. I presumed it probably would be ok and hadn't thought it an issue until the HC mentioned whether it might be an issue. My club is new to WA comps so lots to learn!
That is odd! Feel sorry for the 16 year olds! I've seen clubs use the same routines at local rec floor and vault comps but not sure if the same applies to county WA comps :s
At Regional Club Grades does each gymnasts need to have their own unique floor routine? I'm entering a group of girls into club grade 6 but wondered whether it would be possible for some of them to have the same floor routine? I'd love for them to have individual ones but concerned that it's...
I don't think so unfortunately- this is how the deductions are broken down in the handbook.
VAULT – CLUB GRADE 6
Run and hurdle step with 2 footed take off from springboard to land on 2 feet on 60cm foam block – handspring flatback from block to land on level safety mats. No deduction
for...
So I was on YouTube looking for vault drills and came across this video...
Correct me if I'm wrong but this the club grade 6 vault!?
Looking at the deductions for "flight phase from block" it says deduct for "insufficient height", "insufficient length". Strikes me as quite hard to achieve...
Copied from the handbook
Vault - choice of
Handspring to stand – fall forwards to lie face down
¼ - ½ on to stand (Tsukahara prep) – fall backwards to lie on back
Yurchenko prep to stand – fall backwards to lie on back
Bars
Mount - Float upstart (legs together or straddled)
Squat or stoop on...
Thank you :)! Yes that's what I was thinking! Wish BG had released videos of the routines like they did with the elite grades- would have been so useful!
@marie83 Do you know if there would be a deductions if a gymnast went into the straddle lever on parallettes by bending the legs out to the side and then bringing them forward (like 4.21 in this video Or is it best that they hold on the parallettes with straight legs, lean forward and lower...
Handbook is now published :) Although you have to log into Gymnet and it's under coaching resources. But from what I can see routines haven't changed. One change I can see is that instead of just "passing" your grade or achieving a distinction, you can achieve a pass mark, commended mark or...
So when I said the handbook would be out within two weeks, that was after ringing up British Gymnastics who told me that.. it's now a month later and still nothing... I know I can be quite impatient I'll admit, but how long does it take to put a handbook together ;) C 'mon BG!
How many coaches out there set home conditioning/gymmies required to do home condititioning?
I've been wondering whether to set my squad gymnasts (6-7 years old) some home conditioning.. they only train twice a week, on 2 consecutive days. They have to show all 3 splits (none have all 3 yet but...
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's last minute! Didn't think there would be such a big gap between the provisional rules and the actual handbook.
