DD has only ever been at one gym, so I'm trying to find out if what goes on at our gym is "normal." Our HC is also co-owner. Communication froM HC is minimal at best. Sure, she gets meet info out to us ( albeit not timely), but there's no communication regarding DD's progress, goals...
Our current gym does not have loose foam pits. DD finished her level 6 season and is training level 7/8 skills.
HC is dead set against pits as she feels they are dirty.
Is it possible to train level 9/10 without pits?
Has anyone sent their gymmie to PSU summer camp? My 12 year old level 6 attended a sleep away camp last summer; however, that camp will not be available this coming summer. I'm looking for other camps and PSU camp to mind.
How is the camp run? Do they get a lot of gym time? Did your gymmie...
Question for the coaches/judges out there.
If a child is registered at a level per her profile on the USAG website, must she compete that level at all meets?
For instance, if DD is registered with USAG as a level 7 gymnast, can she compete an early season meet at level 6?
My 11 yo DD competed level 5 last year and is desperately trying to be level 7 this season. However, it seems that is just not going to happen became of bars. Namely, Giants and cast to HS. DD just doesn't have the strength needed for the upper level skills. She tumbles well and excels on beam...
My DD is an 11yo who just finished level 5. HC wants her and her level 5 teammates to compete 7 next season. DD is having serious trouble with her cast to handstand. She is the only one in her level who cannot do it yet. She says HC gets mad at her and says she isn't trying. DD gets...
Check out a new social media app for gymnasts, parents and coaches; It's called ChalkUP. It a great new app for video sharing. It's still in the developmental stages, but I think it's gonna be great. Super easy to share videos and comment on other's videos. It's on the order of Instagram, but...
Well, DD has been in the gym for 4 years, competing for three of those 4 years. She is an 11 year old level 5 gymnast. Up until now she has always wanted me at the gym to watch and video new skills. Last night she finally told her daddy that having me there makes her nervous and she doesn't...
I'm wondering; does anyone else find scores in level 5 low? Is seems The difference between 4 and 5 is huge. DD was an all around state champ at level 4, has all of her level 5 skills with exception of an above horizontal cast on bars, but her scores are rough. She's been to 4 meets so far...
DD finally fought thru the fear and conquered the fly-away!!! Yahoo! So happy! She was all smiles all day today. She can't wait to get back to the gym next week.
My DD has begun complaining of back pain. It has been going on for about 1 week. The pain is worse in the morning when it is compounded by stiffness. Rubbing/massaging her back with a lot of pressure feels good to her. The bulk of Pain is thoracic in location and does not radiate to either leg...
I'm just wondering how many gym moms watch practice. I love to watch, but lately it's been rough. Seems the harder the skills get, the harder it is to watch. Although DD Likes me to be there, she seems to better when I am not in the lobby.
DD sprained her ankle a week ago. She is still having some pain and weakness in the ankle, but has been cleared to return to full use, as tolerated. She has her state meet in 1.5 weeks. How realistic is it to think she will be 100% in time for states?
