At the 2012 trials they did one at a time so you really got too see every routine! They had 2 events going so as soon as someone finished on say bars, the next girl was ready to go on vault. I'm assuming it will be done the same way this weekend too! Can't wait!
I love seeing all the different dream teams! Just shows how stacked team USA really is!! In a perfect world, mine would be:
Simone
Laurie
Aly
Maggie
Madison
Unfortunately, I don't think Maggie will be ready so gabby will probably be in. She is definitely lacking & it's hard for me to cheer her...
There is a girl on my dds team who didn't step foot into a gym until she was 13! She is 20 now and is headed to level 9 Westerns this week then is going level 10. She is taking classes at a jr college until she finishes one season of 10, which has been her dream! So, you are never too old to start!
Or, your level 8 gymnast could trip over a mat and break her finger thus missing the first two meets of her season! Accidents & injuries can happen at any and every level of this sport!
@AandAsmom, here is an interesting story to go along with what you are asking.
In spring 2013, my DD and a teammate (same age) both did level 5 and were both scoring mid 36AA. Teammate came in 1st at all meets, my dd 2nd by only a tenth or even 100th! Very close! My dd is a quick learner and...
With all this talk of meets & getting schedules out, what have been your favorite ones to attend?? We are doing a big travel meet next year(spring 2017), for the first time, and our gym will be open to some suggestions from parents! So, share your favorites & why!! Thanks! :)
My dd is working on her level 7 beam and it clocks in around 40 seconds. She hits all her needed skills (I think), starts down on the beam, does full turn, bwo-bhs, split jump/beat jump combo then cw-bt. I know there are over time deductions but not sure about under time ones! Thanks!
My vote is go the day before! That's a long drive and traffic might not be so good on a Friday morning! All of our meets are far and we usually always go the night before, unless it's a late afternoon meet. I prefer driving at night, but since you don't, I'd say just leave after school! :)
Just watched that interview. Seemed way too awkward for me and like bookworm said above about Kwan saying Belarus wasn't her first choice, Ouch indeed!!
