I think those are the same (type of) rings they used at ETC/Winter Cup (and they chewed my son up and spat him out :p ). He had competed on the podium at Horton Challenge before ETC to prep for ETC podium and didn't seem to struggle as much. After being at ETC our coach had him practice with...
We compete pretty regularly against all 3, and they are really good as far as high caliber gymnastics and good results. At that level of skill/commitment I would check out all 3 and see which fits your needs/personality best. Team size is a big difference I think (North Stars has quite a few...
Hills is one of the top gyms in the area, they have lots of success with elite/college bound/top junior development gymnasts. As gymgal said, once you are in a preschool class they have the means to identify and put them on the appropriate track. But yeah, I don't see them making a fuss over a...
I think the point she's trying to make is that in some age divisions, it is enough. Our region (7) had a couple of age groups that qualified with scores in the 35s. We aren't the strongest region, but we are pretty big.
Edited to add: Minimum qualification scores ranged from 37.825 to 35.425...
Yes, you are right, sorry about that! I think once you are in as an IES to Regionals, you join the rest of the pool competing for those wildcard spots.
That is crazy that 9.725 didn't make the wild card session. I just did a quick look at beam in R7 because I was curious...it looks the like next 5 top beam scores were 9.625, 9.625, 9.625, 9.6, 9.6.
They might take all the ties if that 5th place ends up being a tie. If you look at last years...
Each region can send 2 additional all-around athletes that didn't qualify within the age groups (it doesn't seem clear in the rules/regulations how those 2 are selected, I guess the next 2 highest all-around scorers from all age-groups?). And then 5 gymnasts per event will qualify to the "wild...
I've always thought percentages could be a good way of doing it. For example: Region 7 numbers for each session (these are in comp session order, not age group order FYI):
16, 17, 22, 26, 25, 19, 29, 23, 24, 14, 24, 26 for a total of 265 gymnasts (lowest group 14, highest 29). They are...
Competitive dance is crazy expensive. Kids are in multiple dances, need different costumes for each dance and for dance competitions you pay PER DANCE that you are in. And for many dance competitions that can be $100 per dance! You can be paying hundreds of dollars just in registration fees...
Nationals schedule has been posted! Can any one explain to me how the level 10 Regional team works. It looks like it is right after the JE session, so does that mean the JE kids aren't part of the regional team? Do the kids on the regional team compete in the regular JN sessions as well? Do...
Heart breaking. Our gymnasts got the chance to have some pics taken with him after a college meet, he was so great (and just amazing to watch in competition).
Tough pick for team!
I picked Penn State for team, and I like Matt Cormier, he seems like a good leader.
All around favorite would have to go to Fred Richard. We watched him at the Winter Cup and that high bar routine was incredible. He's so fun to watch. I love his social media stuff...
Not the same cartwheel. Not the same wheel, tire, track, sensors, down force, team...sport. Again, I'm going with the artistic vs rhythmic comparison. Both gymnastics, not the same sport.
It might be helpful if you spell out the rules that make L10 completely different from elite.
I...
