My daughter has a geinger. Took her a while to figure it out. Had a bad fall, and some fear issues as well as mental block. Catches them consistently now and has it connected to her blind full in competition. She's not really interested in learning another release, as she really doesn't need...
We let our DD take a few days off (up to a week)after her last meet of the season. Our gym slows things down post-season until summer training and works on basics and the end of the year show. Attendance seems to slip at this time as kids are busy with end of the school year activities. The...
I really would love to see them move to graduation year. That would make it easier for the colleges coaches and I think the girls would have a great opportunity to make friends with girls they may be on teams with if they go the college route. They could split the graduation years in to 2 (a...
It's very frustrating for travel planning. I teach and really don't want to ask for a sub if I don't need one, yet I would like to give my principal as much notice as possible. If USAG is going to do it this way going forward, they should require all 9/10 states to be on the same weekend.
My DD is a 1st year lvl 10. She started training her geinger on and off 2 years ago. She caught it without a spot for the first time this summer and just moved it over to regulation this past week. She's hitting about 50% She's hoping to be able to actually compete it late season.
I will say I am not a Gabby fan. I respect her as a gymnast and I think the media and the critics have been harsh on her. I also think she tends to play the victim. She claimed bullying when she left Excalibur, she claimed bullying when she did not perform well on UB at the last Olympics...
We had a few girls go to R7 pre season prep, and the leos they received were red. I'd like blue better.... Maybe we'll find out at High Performance in Sept.
Our old gym had us sign a yearly contract ..... in June......bad news and part of the reason we left. I've never had a good experience when leaving gyms. Some people are nice and I've stayed friends, other's delete you on FB. It's a shame really. I know that a lot of people become...
My lvl 9 daughter prefers straddle. I was told straight is strength and straddle is technique. Unless she is training tops or elite, its a gym/athlete preference as far as I know.
My level 9/10 gymnast is brand loyal. She prefers DGS single buckle narrow grips. She has tried others but she just likes what she likes. She won't let me buy anything else.
We've moved twice. Once after level 7(DD was 11) for a better optional program, and 2 years later (just this past spring after an injury ended her 1st year at lvl9) just because there were a lot of changes in the coaching and other issues that the gym was no longer the right fit for us and...
Listen to your gymnast. Really listen..... sometimes they will not come right out and tell you what is hurting/bothering them. And trust your gut. 99% of the time it is nothing, but you need to listen.
Don't be afraid to rest an injury. As someone else said it is a marathon not a race...
