My friend who is a judge says having bright nail varnish will naturally catch the eye and makes non pointed toes etc more noticeable. So whilst it’s not a deduction any errors are more noticeable and more likely to get deductions (not saying they won’t get deducted if not wearing nail varnish)
ahh that’s a bit different maybe, our girls only access to water is the bottle they bring with them. When my dd competes after every piece of apparatus she goes straight and has a drink. Never had any issue of them leaking.
I can’t believe you’re not allowed water, I would not be happy for my dd to have a competition last 3+ hours and be told no water, I’m actually shocked a gym would do that.
Not at gyms in the uk compete at the same level, some gyms only compete at the top level and will train high hours for an 8yr old training for the top level - compulsory grades you would be talking 15+ hours a week.
Some clubs focus on county level competitions, my friends dd is in a county...
That’s the difficult thing people like Dunno and even someone as awful as Nassar they weren’t 100% bad in all they did or advice they gave some of it would of been good and that’s what makes it so hard to spot who to trust as if all your experiences all have been positive around a person why...
If you are completely happy with the gymnastics side and coaching then yes I think your daughter could still be successful in gymnastics and don’t think the other things will impact that much except for maybe the cancelling practice, which I would log and depending on frequency may bring this...
Whilst it shocks me that in the US you don’t have to to be qualified to coach sadly it doesn’t solve everything.
Sadly here in the UK we have our own issues with medals being more important than individual gymnasts. I can think of one elite gym who when you look at how many age 13+ gymnasts have...
I know our team isn’t as profitable as the rec and rec is where the gym makes most of its money but I’ve never heard it used as a threat, the only time I’ve heard it mentioned is that they try to make team as affordable as possible as they know if they charge the same hourly rate over 90% of the...
A couple of points
You can’t compare a once a week piano lesson with a sport you go 4/5 days a week to.
With regards to other sports lots of others aren’t as dangerous to practice at home as advanced gym skills are.
If my kids other coaches told them not to practice at home like my dd gym...
Everybody as you have seen has different opinions on trampoline parks, doesn’t make one person right and one person wrong. You have to go with what you feel happy with and not feel pressured one way or the other.
I let my dd go to one where I know rules are followed but I fully respect those...
For me it depends on the trampoline park one near me it’s a free for all and kids run wild with no control for me that’s a no go. Another the staff are very strict (some parents complain too strict but I like it) and I will let me dd go there as I know they make sure rules are followed and...
I’m guessing you’re talking about BG awards? Each gym does it slightly differently, some test once a term some they can tick off a skill each week.
I wouldn’t worry about how your gym does. At 5 the main thing is that’s she’s having fun.
I find the no spotting policy odd. My dd gym certainly does lots of drills and don’t spot loads but do when it’s needed. They don’t really spot on beam except for dismounts but I guess the other skills have all been learnt on a floor line where they would spot if necessary. Bars they spot and...
You asked for people’s opinions, everyone’s opinion will be different. CB can be a great resource but you just have to remember peoples opinions will be different. For some people (like myself) would never consider a 2 hr drive for gym whereas others have done it for several years. Doesn’t make...
Yes that’s very true but I don’t think these videos should ever be on social media, the mental damage it could do to a child, either directly from how they feel from the video or from the potential for bullies to use the videos.
I’m not going to slate the coach as we are only seeing a snapshot...
You don’t need home equipment to progress. At my dd gym there’s an Olympian who I know from conversations with their mum has never had any home equipment also there’s another girl who IF she carries on and continues to progress as she is has a very good chance of being an Olympian who has...
I think it is false, whilst yes more hours will mean learning faster however double the amount of time does not mean twice as fast. As more hours generally mean longer sessions and towards the end of longer sessions concentration is and issue and fatigue starts to set in and your body also needs...
