    Parents Metroplex Challenge Elite Qualifier

Congrats! I loved her beam routine and that 3rd tumbling pass on floor. Best wishes for an amazing season & future :)

    Parents Practise finish time

I feel your pain! We had a 9:00 end time a few nights a week with an hour drive - school started at 7:15am so it was definitely not ideal. She might adjust after a few weeks. One thing I tried to do was make the next morning as easy as possible so she could sleep as late as possible. Have...

Parents Help! New and needing advice!

Yes - the selection of girls and training set up always seemed kind of weird - even at the beginning. The OP's post concerned me a bit because who would say a L3 was "training elite" ? That seems like a red flag to walk away. While I think it's unusual that my daughter's friends are all gone...

Parents Help! New and needing advice!

I completely understand your excitement, however, take a breath. Level 3 is such a beginner stage that it's really hard to tell who has what it takes to train elite and more importantly, who is willing to do what it takes to train at that level. For what it's worth, every last one of the...

WAG Level 6 JO = xcel platinum?

Agreed. Gold is NOT 5/6. L4 would be more comparable in my area at least.

WAG Level 6 JO = xcel platinum?

In our gym, a lot of girls come over to Xcel after Level 5. Even if they didn't compete bars in L5 because they were missing a skill, they always competed Platinum and had no problem. It's definitely the norm that 5s and 6s go to Platinum. The training groups are combined for Gold, Platinum...

Parents Changes and lack of communication

Our first experience was similar to yours. It doesn't say anything about the coaching. We were at a very highly respected gym. We knew fees were coming (just from talking with other parents), but were shocked that it was essentially $1,000 in a few weeks. This was old level 3 so a ton of...

    Parents Travelling to meets

My simple response would be go if you want to - if it's in a good location with lots to do and a good meet with lots of competition. There are so many other factors to consider - you may not know your daughter's competition time until it's too late to book a flight. Can you or your spouse take...

    Parents Posture

YES! My daughter looks ridiculous walking around - in heels is even worse on the rare occasion she wears them. I'm constantly on her about standing/sitting up straight. Unfortunately it also makes her look insecure when she's not at all.

    WAG Tryout for JO Compulsory

That cost doesn't seem outrageous for my area - and wouldn't include anything other than practice fees. I've paid $300 for 7.5 hours so depending on where you live it might be high, low or average. I do think you need to be realistic about the extras though. The first year my daughter competed...

    Parents Diving?

I’ve seen quite a few girls transition well, however they were all at a level quite a bit higher than Xcel bronze. If she has any interest in trampoline and tumbling that may help her a lot more at this point. Tumbling not so much, but trampoline and double mini could provide a lot of flipping...

    WAG Preschool gymnastics program

I don’t remember what the classes were like at our gym, but they were definitely smaller! Your current situation sounds like a nightmare. I have a feeling it will take care of itself. I can’t imagine parents being ok with that setup. Parents will complain/pull their kids out, then maybe you’ll...

    Parents Winter Cup Finals

Thanks for sharing! I was fortunate enough to see the 2016 Olympic trials in person. I didn’t know if I’d like watching men. OMG- was I more than pleasantly surprised! It’s too bad these guys don’t get more credit. Their strength alone is mind boggling.

Parents Does your Xcel team have travel meets?

Our gym’s Xcel team has one travel meet. All of our meets are optional (except our own invitational). The JO optional team travels quite a bit more. Not many bronze, silver, golds attended the travel meet, most platinum and diamond did.

WAG Being in two different clubs for different disciplines

Definitely worth asking. I expected the situation you described, unfortunately our personal experience was not that simple :/

Exactly. There is no way I would have let that go.

    Parents Leo styles

Yes, same gym. And very ick I agree. There is no way I would have let my daughter go out there like that - and honestly, there is no way she would have wanted to go out there. More skimpy leos today, but on older girls. Please don't let any of the more mainstream leo companies catch on to...

    Parents Leo styles

Does anybody else find a certain “elite” gym with a high social media presence to have inappropriate leos? Leos are skimpy enough, why are they constantly wearing leos that could show way too much if a strap slipped, etc? All this lingerie styling on little girls is disturbing to me. If the 18...

WAG Being in two different clubs for different disciplines

That sounds like a lot of fun! I’d check first. It really shouldn’t be a problem, but it might depend on the relationship between the two clubs. Some of the coaches/owners can be so petty. If you are just taking classes at one, that might be an easier sell than competing for both.

    WAG Underwear for Practice Leo’s?

Yes- I completely forgot about Pink- their seemless is perfect!
