    WAG Bigger Straddles

Those look like great stretches, thanks!

    WAG Bigger Straddles

My straddle on the ground is good in the sense that I can lay with my stomach to the ground and to my legs but its not wide at all... Its almost as if my glutes are very tight. I will try these as they sound helpful, thanks!

    WAG Bigger Straddles

Does anyone have any stretches that can help achieve a wider straddle. I have trouble stretching my legs out in a straddle jump/ side leap giving it a "closed" look. Thanks in advance!

    WAG Toe shoes for floor

Thats crazy!![emoji33] I wonder how one can find time for pointe level ballet AND level 10 gymnastics? Really is a gorgeous picture though.

Off Topic Gym Digs custom leos?

Does anyone here have any experience with the custom competition leotards from Gym Digs? You can enter your measurements and colors and even fabric but the trick is you cant see the leotard until you get it on tour door step. I thought this would be cool for my high school team since we have...

    Painful splits problems??

Maybe you need to stretch more than just the splits... try stretching your entire body before doing the splits. If it is painful then stop but uncomfortable just means it's working. If the next day it is back to uncomfortable just keep stretching everyday. I hope you can figure this out as it's...

    Painful splits problems??

It's sounds like you just lost some flexibility from being out of it for some time. I would keep stretching but not rush anything so you don't hurt yourself. Keep working on it and hopefully you will become more comfortable in your splits. :)

    WAG Korbut

Okay thank you! I was a little confused on the rules of the skill directory, and also this thread is sort of a repeat now that I learn that the site has been having some issues and that's why I couldn't find previous threads.

    WAG Korbut

I've been working on some simple drills for a Korbut on beam such as doing it up into mats and onto a sting mat on a floor beam. I've seen threads previously about drills for the Korbut but I cannot find them now. My coach is sort of stuck as they were not something she's ever coached or done...

    WAG Retiring

I am going to have to disagree as I've witnessed this myself. If a group of super tightly knit gymnasts of the same age are all thinking of retirement at the same time it's not unusual. I don't think it's something to share with the entire team but if it's just with a couple of super close...

    WAG Parents, coaches, gymnasts....

I don't have much to add to this other than there are ways to work safely at home as long as you are doing nothing that you're daughter can do incorrectly such as flexibility and conditioning. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do extra at home to help in the gym and that mentality is what...

    WAG Body types and strengths?

I'm actually oddly extremely flexible and struggle with power. It's like I have the opposite of how things tend to work. It is pretty strange. I used to do ballet training for gymnastics and would totally love to do it again. I definitely think a better presentation would help a lot! Thanks!

Maybe I should be more specific... MY 45 year old dad[emoji23]

    WAG Body types and strengths?

@azara we have tried some hip hop routines and I have the rhythm of a 45 year old dad but my routines are definitely not ballet like. I try to do stuff like you described such as always moving and pick a music that is powerful yet is able to have dance go along.

    WAG Body types and strengths?

Okay thanks!! I definitely focus a lot on form especially posture. I have huge thighs that tend to make things look clunky but maybe it's a mental thing. It's strange to me that I have such large muscles that seem to be no help with power since I struggle with power.

    WAG Body types and strengths?

I am a stockier more powerful looking gymnast but I am better at dance and have more artistic and flowy routines, this causes a dilemma where the artistic dance and skills don't look that great when I'm doing them since I do not have the best lines. The biggest issue with my lines are my legs as...

Stupid Question? Why do they use ribbons on pointe shoes?

Oh okay makes sense!! They seem pretty cool though. I think something like this could be really useful to provide more comfort or support for practice, maybe they could find a way to make something similar with a more traditional look.

Stupid Question? Why do they use ribbons on pointe shoes?

I don't have much experience in this realm other than friends but I'm sure tradition is a huge factor as it is in all of ballet. I wonder if those Nike pointe shoes are used often as they seem like they would not fly in most studios.

    WAG Wish me luck!!

I'm heading to a sports medicine doctor later today for recurrent lower back pain. I hope it's nothing too bad but I know that bone pain in the back is scary [emoji51]. Im hoping for the best!

    Toe shoots!!

I've been working toe shoots to handstand or stoop circles to handstand (at least halfway between horizontal and vertical) with a spot for quite a while and still can't get it. My coach says I'm shooting too late, I also have a problem with getting both feet off at the same time. Any tips would...
