WAG Conditioning - what works best?

Thanks for all of your answers! It is really inspirational to get new ideas and other perspectives. Planned to test some of the things you are doing after season and see what works best for us. Would love to hear more if you have time! Maybe about your post comp/off season and apparatus...

    WAG One handed roundoff

Written request at the competition, like raising the bar for tall gymnasts. I do not know how it works in the Netherlands, but this is how we would do it here.

WAG Best way to wrap a Rip??

You can make re-usable grips out of tape and wear them as an additional layer under regular grips to decrease friction. There are some videos on youtube about how to make them.

    WAG One handed roundoff

Interesting question, never had to judge a one handed roundoff yet. Usually there are only two options: reward D-value and deduct for mistakes at the E-score or not reward a skill at all. I think a intentionally performed one handed roundoff would not count as a skill on beam (element 5.208)...

    WAG Plankoline (Vaulting Trampoline)

I vaulted on the Eurotramp version at a training camp some years ago, it was much better than using a mini tramp instead of a springboard. The only thing that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable is the idea of hitting the floor through the board when it becomes worn, especially when you have...

WAG Conditioning - what works best?

Gymnasts, coaches and parents! I would love to hear how you or your gymnasts are conditioning! There is no real conditioning concept at my gym, it is more like whatever the coaches prefer on a given day. In my opinion the gymnasts would profit by a structured conditioning. So I have been...

    WAG Shorts in competition

In my region judges deduct for picking wedgies. If you as a judge like it or not, we are even expected to do so by the chair of judges, same for e.g. fixing your hair during a routine. It is a 0,3 penalty for behavior related violations from the final score. I am not sure of the exact reason...

    Coaches Making straight jumps exciting

Working with two gymnasts at a time sounds good, especially when you want to work on details. Just make sure to keep an eye on the rest of the group. I got the impression that they probably do not sit still or are used to wait in a line. You could either put some dots or hoops on the floor, so...

Thoughts on first day of women's qualification

47:00-53:00 The two gymnasts are Pamela Arriojas and Milca León. As @Seeker said, they might not have access to good coaching and equipment. In my opinion their bar routines did not only look sloppy, but rather dangerous. As a coach I would never let any gymnast perform their skills like that...

Newbie from germany - help at pbars somersault dismount & floor Jump bwd. with ½ t. to roll fwd

Hi Tino, the Turnfest is all about fun! This will be your first competition, you might be nervous, there could be different apparatus than what you are used to in your gym, so you could be struggeling even with your „safe“ skills. Take it easy, compete what you are confident in training! Are...

Does anyone know what style this is?

In Germany this is part of a gymnastics team competition, called TGM/TGW. There are 8 disciplines and you have to choose 3 or 4 (depends of the age groups). The focus is on creative, extraordinary, fun routines. I have never seen such a competition, but I do know people competing it. The...

    Coaches Gymnastics in Germany

My answer might be a bit late, but it is hopefully useful for anyone who's interested in the German Gymnastics system. English is not my mother language, I have just learnt it at school and hope that you can understand what I wanted to tell you! Feel free to ask any questions if I did not...

WAG Gloves on bars - rip prevention?

I tried to get a better screenshot from a video. And I do not think that this is tape. As Ali'sMom said it could be cotton gloves. But I can't imagine wearing those on bars, too.

WAG Gloves on bars - rip prevention?

I am struggling with rips all the time and just stumbled across a picture of Gabby Jupp. It looks like she is wearing white gloves under her grips at uneven bars. I have never seen that before. Could this be kind of rip prevention? Which type of gloves could you use? The ones she is wearing...

HELP!!! Wanting to attempt a comeback after injury! Pls respond getting stressed

At first I wanted to say sorry for my English, because I am neither living in an English speaking country nor a Native speaker and just learned it at school. I have been in the same situation some time ago. I injured myself badly at gymnastics and was out for almost one year. Starting...
