    WAG Unitard in competition

From the FIG COP "2.3.2 Competition Attire a) They must wear a correct sportive non transparent leotard or unitard (one piece leotard with full length legs-hip to ankle), which must be of elegant design. She may wear complete leg coverings of the same color as that of the leotard; under or on...

Wait, what? I saw that too, but I don't think it is up to us to judge her motives.

My own children feel like their competition leotard is a circus costume with all the bling and would much rather have a simple leo. But I just never see them at competitions. I wish it were more common in the US.

I agree. But it is criticizing it to say it would look better as capri or shorts length. The gymnast may need to have her ankles covered.

So what about people who prefer to wear long pants? Do they get a deduction or are they banned from competing?

But aren't they also opening themselves up for deductions by performing those skills? It doesn't bug me unless they competed 6 the year before.

Thank you for saying so. The gymnast above may also be wearing a unitard for this reason and it feels disrespectful for people to be criticizing it.

The pants may come down over her ankles for reasons of modesty.

You didn't actually owe anyone an apology. You are very nice.

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

I was floored by the recent suicide of Olympic cyclist Kelly Catlin (23 years old) and then I read that she was recovering from a concussion. CTE isn't just for football players. So sad.

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

No kidding. Honestly, I am encouraging my older/higher level child to leave the sport for something with less pounding, twisting and hard landings.

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

The thing that makes cheer so dangerous is that so much of it takes place on hard surfaces. I consider catastrophic injuries to be head and neck injuries. 10% of all contact-sport athletes sustain concussions yearly Football injuries associated with the brain occur at a rate of one in every...

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

I'm suggesting that having knowledge of a foreign language is a really amazing way to experience the world and that we can all benefit from it. I am throwing on the lens if international assignments so that people who eat, breathe, and sleep gymnastics and think their child is going elite can...

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

Sce I don't actually think I was quick to judge. Obviously I am not talking about every single program but rather one that I have seen with my own eyes where girls training elite are practicing 35+ hours a week and putting their education on the backburner. And yes, this gym does have college...

    WAG L4 mobility score

It does seem nuts that the FHS over the table was previously the vault for Ls 4,5,6,7 and now it will be just for L4.

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

I agree 1000%. I am talking about gyms that are managing the education of the athlete rather than the parents.

It looks like level 5 is when the Yurchenko time or Tsuk timer is introduced. Maybe those gyms that skip level 5 should reconsider. I've noticed that girls from gyms that compete Level 5 often do better later even if they are slowed down for a year. Compulsory skills matter.

WAG how old is the youngest female L10 gymnast?

I think the bother comes with feeling like we are complicit in a sport that may be taking advantage of children. Even though gymnastics doesn't have the catastrophic injury level of football, it has a crazy amount of repetitive stress injuries. I struggle with allowing my children to compete in...

I don't get it. It seems like such a conflict of interest for school to be at the gym. I wonder what takes priority? I really feel for these broken beat up girls who leave gymnastics and then realize that they haven't gotten a proper education for years.

    Parents Elite around the world

If you watched the American Cup over the weekend, you saw the vast difference in gymnastics skills between the US, Canada and Japan and pretty much the rest of the world.
