I am so happy for your daughter, huge accomplishments in her life, I am proud of her and she is not even mine. Dani is still plugging away. Second-year level ten in tenth grade. Had a rough season getting through Schmorl's Nodes, core strength is a must in this sport. Working on a new beam series.
It all comes to this. Does your daughter ask for more gymnastics or is this something you want for her? Personally, if my daughter were asking I would let her try evaluations at other gyms. Your daughter is at the age where preteam is the place for her. If this is something you want for her just...
I'll play. My daughter started gymnastics at 5 in usaigc. Showed promise. At 10 I thought a move was called for and I found the chalk bucket, so much good advice. It was said usag would be tough and it is. She broke her elbow during covid-19 shutdown which forced a repeat of level 9 this year...
@CLgym I understand your feelings and as a loving parent like yourself I am on the same page as you. Sometimes even when someone loves something it has to be let go. I can not tell you what decision to make for your daughter or your family. I can only tell you my thoughts and how my brain works...
@CLgym how are you. Dani had a tough time with level 8. She scored better the next year in level nine, last year. Then Covid, then a broken elbow and surgery. She has made a full recovery but the 6 months out was tough on her. She grew probably 4 inches and etc. We spoke many times after she...
I am not a coach but I would like to add that the abs really only have one purpose, to shorten the distance between the top of the pelvis and the bottom of the rib cage. It's impossible to engage abs with an arch in the lower back.
You made me laugh.
She had worked her way up to 25 miles rides. She went down crossing railroad tracks and landed on her elbow. Surgeon says only bone damage no ligament or tendon damage. Few screws and some hard work and good as new. He put her arm through full range of motion during surgery...
I like this thread it helps me feel or better yet keeps me level headed. Everyone should remember that life throws curveballs and is not fair. Dani was biking to help stay in shape. One accident later and you have two more months of no gymnastics and a bionic elbow.
This is an interesting thread. I think it made me realize that growing old and raising a family has also pushed my dreams to the side. I have wants and goals but dreams do not exist for me anymore.
The only thing I can stretch to a dream is to no longer need to work to have enough resources...
Here it is a baseball glove/bat, new mountain bike, hours of online workouts with teammates. I have to admit I am impressed with her ability to catch a ball with a mitt as well as being fearless on the MTB trails.
I just want to say the obvious. Kindergarten friends don't always stay friends forever. Some humans just can't be respectful or nice. Life seems way more competitive in 2020 then it did in the 70s, I am that old. Leave competition and conversation about any competition for the events. Friends...
If your daughter wishes to pursue her gymnastics dreams switching may be the only way to allow her to try. Should the harder conditioning and higher expectations of a new gym chase her love for the sport isn't that better to happen when she is still young and can change gears and pursue...
Devil's advocate. If you allow her to attend Metroplex she has a friend, a motivating factor. If she attends Metroplex possibly two different scenarios could play out. 1. She loves the gym again and Metroplex that has the potential to take her to her best gymnastics self. 2. She decides gym...
We can agree to disagree. You are nothing more than another example of the old guard in gymnastics. One day possibly we can cross paths and have a beer.
Thanks for the "unkind" words. I am sure "you" would not compete it.
She has always been behind on bars. She is proud of herself and I am extremely proud of her.
