We went from rec classes to pre-team at 5.....from 1:15 to 9 hours a week....She adjusted and loved it.....competed level three at 6 and now level 4 at seven.....she has a Jan birthday....so half is at 7 and the other half will be a newbie 8.....

Why not just ask one of the coaches at the gym? They can visually inspect them for you and explain in detail (if they have competed), how it should feel.
