Parents Don't know if I'm doing the right thing

So glad we did this. Bjyst have ti share. Dd came out buzzing tonight she landed her round off to back handspring on her own and she landed a front somersault in the trampette (unsure I'd that's spelt correctly.) She is so so happy and the coach told me she is doing well. So all good. Glad we...

Thanks she is going again right now will see how she is when she comes out she has an extra hour today too. It was really late yesterday and think she was really tired and emotional after. She was really eager to get in today so that's a good sign

Parents Don't know if I'm doing the right thing

Well we went last night and she came out buzzing telling me everything she has done but after a while started getting upset as she told me she can't do back handspring the way they want. She learnt a certain way at her old gym a few years back and she was doing it that way and she said the man...

Parents Don't know if I'm doing the right thing

Thanks I'm probably over thinking it. Overthinking is my super power. I just know she loves it so much and has talent but she is very shy and put off by older children and also put off if she does things wrong she is very hard on herself. I just want her to find a class she loves and where she...

Parents Don't know if I'm doing the right thing

So a few years ago my dd was in a competitive team here we call it a squad. She was only 6 and due to covid and lock down and zoom classes with no skills only strength she lost interest. I let her stop and left it alone completely. We explored other interests. Now 2 years later she wanted to...

    Parents Lost back handspring?

Hi. My dd is in a competitive gymnastics squad. She is 6. She just got her back handspring a few weeks ago. First few weeks it's been great but it actually now seems to be getting worse each time. We have a trampoline at home so I am worried shes picking up bad habits from that I told her to...

    Parents Testing

Another question. Would you tell her shes being tested or leave it? They might be told anyway. Should I prepare her or leave it?

    Parents Testing

Oh and if they are cut they are offered a place on rec yes. But I think they would be too advanced for their age group now so they would end up a bit inbetweeny

    Parents Testing

Unfortunately we actually live in an extremely rural area. There are only 2 gyms within a 2 hour drive that offer competitive gymnastics. We went with the one she liked best. It also happens to be the more successful gym. We drive an hour there and an hour back. Unfortunately there are just no...

    Parents Testing

She was selected for squad almost a year ago. They had a 6 month trial and then kept the ones they felt should stay on the squad. Now they are officially on the squad but they go through tests every 6 months and cut people who arent keeping up or dont have the enthusiasm. Even the older squads...

    Parents 6 monthly trials

They dont. There is a girl in the advanced squad who has been there since she was 5 and they just cut her....after years of work and dedication. She wasnt matching up to the others on the squad so they cut her.

Now to get through this 6 month trial and see if she continues after that. Its ongoing. They are assessed every 6...

She was trialed for the squad (competitive level) and got in now shes just finished her 6 month trial and they tell you whether they continue or if they go back to recreational. Sorry I should have been more clear. We are in the UK. Was just wondering what kind of feedback we will be given and how

    Parents 6 monthly trials

Dd is coming towards her first 6 month trial for the beginners squad. Apparently they do 6 monthly trials and so place is never guaranteed really. But just wondering how they will tell us if she is through and give feedback. We got an email saying we would get feedback next week. Just not sure...

    Parents Transition to more hours?

Daughter is in beginner squad. She went from 1.5 hours one day to 2 hours. She had had a big day the day before and had a cold too. But after she was just so tired and grumpy. I'm guessing it's a mix of the cold and tiredness from day before and transitioning to extra time. Is there anything I...
