    WAG Valieva vs Raducan

I am so gutted for Kamila-she was let down by so many adults at best and blatantly thrown under the bus at worse case scenario. I was talking with a friend of mine who was on the US Diving team and we both said that we wouldn’t be surprised if the real reason the Court of Arbitration and...

WAG HOPES skills for 10-11 year olds?

Former elite gymnast here. Having an aspiring/elite gymnast in the family affects EVERYONE in the household. Before proceeding down this road, talk to the coach about time and financial commitments. Some gyms have split sessions (like mine-one before school and one after school) and back...

WAG Terrible Mental Block After Paralysis

I think if you were able to get back into the gym you may not have this problem. You are dealing with multiple issues: time out of the gym, recovering (mentally and physically) from a scary injury and not being able to get right back in the the gym allowing the fear to take control...

    Parents Difficult decisions

I was in that situation my last three years co petting and I was doing split sessions, but both parents and an older sister shared the driving. I would contact the gym and see if there are any other gymnasts near by that you could car pool with. while I was training my parents would bring work...

    Parents What's after gymnastics?

I did gymnastics all through school and was offered a D1 scholarship, but I was told by a doctor not to continue if I wanted to walk after 40. Needless to say I was devastated. I cried myself to sleep for six months. I went away to college in the state where I lived and taking advice from my...

WAG Service dogs at gymnastics meets

I am a former gymnast and coach. If the poster is an athlete s/he would have to work that out. Certified service animals are kept on leashes and are well trained for many environments.

    WAG Friend Drama, Gymnastics related

This is the typical “trash talk” that goes on in sports. It can be downright brutal in gymnastics. My coach taught me gymnasts only try to get into my head because they are “threatened” by me and we’re not confident in their training and for me to stay “in my bubble”. I(and my teammates)...

WAG Service dogs at gymnastics meets

Certified service dogs cannot be legally be barred. Carry the documentation with you. A former client trained service dogs and carried the paper work with her everywhere she went. You will probably have less problems if they wear the identifying vest.

    Parents New toCompetitions

Others have addressed the coach meet/fees so I’ll just answer the question about skipping levels. I am not a fan and in 90% of the cases, I am against it. It would depend if your daughter learns the needed skills easily and has solid technique or if she struggles. It would depend on what...

    WAG Gyms in Colorado?

I don’t know where in CO they are, but I know people who went to and sent their daughters to TIGAR and Aerials.

    Parents What's after gymnastics?

I was “that gymnast”. I was awarded a DI scholarship but was told by multiple doctors not to continue if I wanted to walk upright after 40. I cried myself to sleep for six months because I couldn’t do my favorite thing in the world. Then I was scared because I didn’t know who I was without...

    WAG Fav Gymnast

What if the top 4 were Simone, Chellsie, Mykayla and Laurie? That leaves Riley, Sunisa, Olivia, Grace, Morgan, Kayla, Konnor, Shilese and Jordan. I want to cry for these women because the US is so deep and the team is so small. It will be brutal.

    WAG YouTube gymnasts

I saw that over the weekend.

    WAG Fav Gymnast

Don’t write off Chellsie, Kayla DiCello, Konnor McClain or possibly even Laurie Hernandez. Haven’t seen much from Jordan Chiles or Shilese Jones of late. The US is so deep it comes down to who’s healthy and who hits because Tom will most likely go with straight all around.

    WAG YouTube gymnasts

The fact she is able to still do these skills is a true Ute to her coaches teaching proper technique before her growth spurt. When kids are small, it is easier for them to become skill checkers. Then hit a growth spurt and have to totally RELEARN a skill, not just get used to their new body...

    WAG YouTube gymnasts

I encourage my friends’ gymnast children to watch Whitney-especially those that don’t have the “build” for a gymnast. She found a style that works for her and runs with it. I also like to support gymnasts and it’s nice to see them earn money and show others they can too.

WAG L10 Senior and gym decided ALL virtual when the rest of gyms in state are planning for a season (entering local meets)

Every option has its pros and cons. Worse case scenario-she does DII OR DIII for a year then transfers to a DI or she could go to a a DI school with a “smaller” program (Arkansas vs. UCLA-though with Jordyn coaching that maybe more competitive now). Where does she want to go?

WAG Does my daughter need a pit?

Pits are a safer way to to learn skills. They minimize the stress on your daughter’s body, for one thing. I don’t know how long your daughter has done gymnastics, what level she is at or how far she wants to go, but as a former gumnast who remembers the sport before pits were standard, I...

    WAG Need Help/Advice

Are you having problems with other skills as well? If you are, have you grown? Have you learned visualization techniques? Before you mount the beam, close your eyes and picture yourself doing a perfect back handspring. Has anyone taken videos of you performing the skill? Are you making the...
