WAG Back Walkovers - Hurting Back!!

I completely agree with kipping the BWO. Actually, I really do not agree with making everyone do BWOs on beam. It just takes quite a lot more flexibility than a BWO on the floor and I've seen way too many girls have backpain because of them. So yeah, skip them. Be careful. Especially at your...

    WAG Tsuk v. Yurchenko

The Yurchenko is very popular at the Elite level even though the Tsuk is valued at .2 more than the equivalent Yurchenko. This is mostly due to the fact that, once mastered, the Yurchenko entry generates a lot of power even for the less powerful gymnasts. However, the entry is very technical so...

    WAG Elite Qualifications

Gienger is actually correct, even if gEInger is probably what seems more intuitive for a native English speaker given then pronounciation.

Lets see those leos. 2011-2012 edition.

This one is really pretty. Not in spite, but because of the lack of rhinestones. The pattern is busy enough, I would say! Lovely colours, too!

    Leotards.....

My personal favourite is A star in the UK. Awesome quality, amazing fit and they will pretty much do any designs you may want. Amazing service quality. A Star Leotards For Gymnasts, Trampolinists, Majorettes, Dancers and Athletes

Coaches Level 7 afraid of giants - struggling on bars

Maybe offer her a break from giants but keep working bars? I would imagine that her issues with clear hips getting worse is an effect of her issues with giants (believe me, I went from tsuking, to not doing half ons, to not vaulting over the table at all - not fun). So maybe plan on competing...

'Normal' clothes for a gymnast shape

Wait till they get older - if they ever get an office job, they're screwed;) Nah, seriously, I'm currently equipping my work wardrobe and it's a massive pain. For normal clothes you can get around it (kind of) by getting stretchy fabrics and tank tops. Blouses are a massive no-no. However, work...

Off Topic Score the Leo (repost)

Awful!! Mostly, because I hate knock offs of any type. Like, I'm not too keen on the sleeveless versions of the USA leotards that adidas does, but if you then get the same thing from another brand, that's just kinda lame. But maybe thats just my personal pet peeve.:D so 1/10

What skills did you/your DD struggle with?

Bars mostly came easy to me. Handspring vaults as well (we used to compete squat throughs and then at some point I crashed them so badly I was just told to do FHS for safetty reasons). I am very inconsistent on vault though, because I tend to freak out about it every now and then. Mostly, when I...

Who was the best when you were born?

Aurelia Dobre and the Romanian Team managed to upset the USSR. It was the year of the original Rotterdam Worlds and probably one of the best years ever in international gymnastics. Even though overall, I prefer the year of my sister's birth, 1989 and the original Stuttgart Worlds. Mostly...

    Parents Ugh, need ankle fairies!

Sprains do come in all shapes. I had some massively bad ones including torn ligaments that took forever to heal but just last sunday I rolled my ankle on the trampoling and while I definitely felt the muscle pull and it was pretty swollen right away it did not hurt a lot. Its feeling much better...

    Journalist opinion of NBC comentators

LOL The BBC commentators are VERY knowledgable! I really appreciate that. NBC tends to create a lot of drama when there isnt one and a lot of unnecessary hype which just results in an insane amount of pressure on the gymnasts. It just gets annoying (and also very repetitive). I have to...

    Any advice please? (:

Repetition, repetition, repetition - with however much of a spot you need. Don't force yourself to do them on your own until you feel comfortable with the move itself. I realise though, that might be an issue in High School, because coaches might not know enough to teach skills properly. In...

    Parents Bad Sportsmanship

Hm, I have to say, I can kind of relate. I would have behaved like that because that wouldve shown everyone else how hurt i must have been, but I can guess what she mustve felt like. Its not even about the others, she probably doesnt judge others by how well they're doing - just herself. And...

    YOUNGEST elite gymnast?

I think the general consensus is that she was probably born around 1979, making her 10 when she competed at worlds. That's pretty insane. As far as competing internationally - Hollie Vise went to both Belgium and Russia in 1999, when she was 11 (turned 12 in Dec 99). As far as competing...

    Coaches Happy Medium

As far as competing a level you're not ready for (3.0 bars score) - I totally agree, what's the point? I see the issue with L3 to L4 though, especially with older kids. They will probably pick up the details that in the end differentiate the scores quite quickly but are also more likely to...

    Who has matching training leos?

It's a good way to get some cheap gk leos, obviously (do other gyms do bulk orders for simple gk styles? i love that). But requiring a certain colour for each day does seem a bit odd. what's the point?

    Forward roll on the beam

stand in a tuck, and try focussing on a point in front of you. the trick is to go low and quick. starting the roll from standing up will just make it harder, same as kind of diving into it.
