    Parents Update

Our drive is a little over an hour one way to my daughter's gym. Our last gym was about five minutes away. We've been to our new gym over a year now and my daughter has not once complained about the drive. She normally has her nintendo ds, ipod, and other things to entertain herself and she...

    Parents What would you do?

I don't know about where you live but we pay for our meets sometimes months earlier and they average about $75 per meet. You normally can't get your money back unless you find a sub. Some gyms also require you to participate in all meets. Why is the gym closing for such a long break during...

    Parents What would you do?

Is there anyway that she go for a short practice either before or after the chorus thing? My daughter just learned a new routine and her coach had me tape it so she could go over it since her meet was only two weeks after she started learning it. That way even if she couldn't practice it she...

    Parents Switching gyms mid-season?

Good luck with whatever you decide. We switched gyms mid season last year along with three other girls. The optional level kids were fine, the coach just switched their usag # to their gym # and they had to pay for a usaigc membership # but that was it. They participated in all meets, even the...

How long is your drive to the gym?

Our gym is 1 hour 15 minutes away. To make it worse it's up a 2 1/2 mile mountain which is a royal pain in the winter but I would never change her back to the gym that is literally 2 miles from my house. The coaching is superb and my daughter has inproved more than either of us could have imagined.

    Parents Team prices?

My daughter can go 5 days per week for up to 27 hours and it costs $200 (This is for any level). We also have a coach that was an elite and her husband was her coach. I've never found a deal anywhere near me as good as this.

    Skill Coding Chart A, B, C

Thanks, I know about the book but our coaches are also the gym owners and they don't keep it at the gym. I know I could ask but I wanted to find it someplace on the internet so I didn't always have to bug them to look it up.

    Skill Coding Chart A, B, C

Hi, I've found a lot of information on the internet regarding which skills are required for each level (optionals). They list things such as 3C skills are needed along with 2Bs and that kind of stuff. What I want to know is where can I find a list of what skills are rated as an A, B, C, and so...

    Skipping levels?

You need to be 14 to petition to be a level 7. You also need to send video along with the petition showing that you have all skills necessary to compete as a level 7.

    routines changing

If I remember correctly the routines are changed every 5 years so I'm pretty sure that the 2009-2010 is the new routine date. My daughter is doing optionals right now but if I count back I think I'm right about the date.

    Switching between USAIGC & USAG

My daughter was previously a level 5 gymnast but did not obtain a qualifying score to move to level 6 before changing gyms(our previous gym closed) At our new gym she is doing USAG Prep Opt and also USAIGC Silver. In Prep Opt she is doing handsprings, layouts, and full turning jumps on floor...
