I am sorry but I can't get past the fact that she has her back walkover, cartwheel, etc on high beam and yet the coach doesn't want to move her to pre-team?!?! Not even regular team but pre-team?! That is crazy. I hope you can find a different gym. I agree with the above about searching again for...
There was a 22 yr old Level 7 at a meet a few weeks ago and one of my girls' coaches said when she was in JO about 10 yrs ago that there was a 40 yr old level 4!
My girls' gym has a "no shorts" rule on Fridays (they practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) but are lax about it during the summer when there are no meets, etc. They don't specify which type they can wear though a lot of the girls wear the tight, velour or spandex ones from GK or Motion Wear.
LOL That is hilarious!
I agree with Sean too! A great meet for your girl! :) She is adorable!
My DD just had her second level 5 meet yesterday and my step-DD had her first level 6 meet.
That was fun to watch! She is doing so well and seems so determined! My DD has that same leo but in orange and white - did you get it from K-Bee leos?
I love the swinging at the end too! :)
I am only a pre-school coach but this blog looks very imformative! I already plan on using some of the handstand tips with my little kiddos!
Thanks Chris!
We have three ropes (1 knotted and 2 not) and all three are over the pit. We tie them out of the way when not in use.
I am glad your little one is okay - how painful!
Maybe our gym is old fashioned but we always start beam skills on low beam. And I use floor beams too for my preschoolers. Don't have any words of advice for you :(
This is exactly what my step-DD was doing when she slipped off and broke her collar bone! She had also used some lotion on her hand before they went out for recess. Ah, not the wisest choice lol
She is great! I went back and looked at some of her older videos - she has such clean lines! Very nice!
I can't believe how high her scores were and that she didn't place 1 st in every event with those scores!
Tell her congrats!
As well as a parent, I am also a pre-school coach. I coach ages 18 mos up to 6 yr olds but only in rec classes, not anythhing related to team. As a parent, I am extremely aghast at what that coach did. As a coach, I am completely ashamed of that the coach did. If you don't understand the...
Definitely the cartwheels in the grocery stores but thankfully they don't do that anymore really. They have composed and performed whole "floor routines" in our pool. Amusing to watch LOL My step DD sometimes does handstands on the landing of our stairs but I nix that when I see it. Headstands...
