    WAG Phone Calls

This is probably a stupid question, but I just can't find the answer anywhere! Under the new recruiting rules, are gymnasts who have not yet reached their junior year still allowed to call college coaches (and the coach is allowed to answer and speak with the gymnast)? My daughter has had one...

WAG Any reason not to do a Pak?

Thanks for that information! So, the E dismount isn't going to solve the problem?

WAG Any reason not to do a Pak?

I realize that my opinion doesn't really matter in all of this, (its up to my daughter and her coaches), but I'm just curious. My daughter is a level 10 and she is really struggling to get a major release. Her jaeger was looking really good, but then she started hitting the bar and has now...

WAG Questions to ask college coach

Thank you for the link! My daughter is in her second year of competing level 10. How exactly do I go about joining the Level 10 group?

WAG Questions to ask college coach

My daughter is going on her very first college visit this week and I am feeling a little clueless. What types of things should we ask him? Any advice? Thanks for your help!

WAG Has anyone moved to get to a better gym?

Our daughter is a 12-year-old level 10 gymnast. We completely love the gym where she is currently training and she has been very successful with this gym. Unfortunately, we are afraid that she has outgrown them. They have had some coaching turnover and the coaches that are left, although...

Is there any point to going to big meets?

My daughter is 8 years old and is competing level 7 this year. In addition to several meets involving a 4 to 5-hour drive, she has one meet that will require a 7 to 8-hour drive and another one that will involve airfare. We have decided that we are not going to let her to the one that would...

Someone please tell me we're not going to "ruin" her

Thanks for the responses! You have made me feel better. I guess my fear is that it will be harder for her to learn the upper level skills as she gets older and that by making her miss practice now, we're robbing her of the opportunity to learn them now while they're easier for her. I do...

Someone please tell me we're not going to "ruin" her

We've recently made a tough decision for our daughter and we're second guessing ourselves. Our daughter is 8. She is eats, sleeps, and breathes gymnastics. She is going to compete level 7 this year, but she is training higher. (She has a nice standing back tuck on the beam and a nice...

What does an elite gymnast look like as a child?

Good question! I promise I had no idea she was that sick when I handed her over to her coaches. I knew she wasn't acting quite right, but she never said anything about not feeling good and she certainly didn't have a fever. I didn't know she was really sick until after the competition was over.

What does an elite gymnast look like as a child?

Thanks for your input everyone! I enjoyed reading all the comments. I guess we'll just keep it up as long as we can. I kind of panic every time they increase her practice time or move her up a level because of the increased impact it has on the family (not to mention the checking account!) I...

What does an elite gymnast look like as a child?

Hi! I have never posted here before, but I'm needing some insight. We know our daughter is a good gymnast. What we don't know is just how good she is and how much we should be putting into this. Let me give you a little background. She was adopted on her first birthday from another...
