After the cast, they are typically afraid to go backwards, so the bend their arms and slide down the bar instead of whipping the shoulders back.
I just stop them from moving as soon as their arms bend and tell them to stop bending their arms.
If they are hosting an Xcel Bronze/Silver meet they are REQUIRED to have the proper equipment. So in the case of them not having one, is against the rules. I believe that could have been a problem for them had it been reported. It was not an "option".
I was just going back through this thread and want to thank you all for your input! She won State here in Texas last year 1st AA silver and she Won 1st AA Regionals Gold this year at Galveston, TX. I had a few other girls place first as well. Awesome Season.
I know their handstand doesn't have to reach vertical, I believe is 45 degrees from vertical, but I don't think all judges know that. I know for a fact some judges are judging based on compulsory skills. Which sucks for our Xcel girls. Same with the cast on bars. I do believe their feet...

Glide swing
Pullover

2. On bars, I saw some silver doing squat on, jump off for dismount. Is this acceptable?
3. My gymnastics do roundoff backward roll to a pose on floor. Is this...
