Some of the recreational girls I coach want to begin learning front tuck halves, however, I have no idea how to go about teaching them the twist. Any drills or advice would be appreciated.
So I've got my coaching exam coming up next week and I've got a basic idea of what I'm going to do, but I need a few more ideas for drills for some of the skills.
For 'arm pulling strength' all I have is 5X chin ups in overgrasp and 5X chin ups in undergrasp, but obviously that won't take up...
I had my first comp at the weekend and I had no idea it would be so long!! I was there for 6 hours !
First up was vault. My first one was a bit iffy but I stuck the landing on the 2nd one- score of 10.350 and 15 place on vault.
Over to bars, I wasn't sure I was even going to compete bars...
I've been picked to take part in a novice competition at the end of April, i think there are only 2 other girls from the recreational side taking part and the rest are from the comp squad. You only have to do 3 pieces so i won't be doing bars. I'm really excited so wish me luck :D
I've been doing round off tuck backs off an air floor onto a covered pit and had been landing the first few reasonably well, but last week I over rotated all the time and I can't work out why. Should I be slowing the rotation down or 'kicking out' of the somersault to land??
I had a really awesome practice today. I did a handspring over the vault by myself for the first time and it was actually better than the spotted ones! I also did a spotted roundoff tuckback for the first time as well. :D
Is there any way to get stains out of a leotard? The leo has got a silver top part surrounded by pink piping and the pick has bled into the silver in giant splotches after being washed :( Is there anyway to get the pink out?
I found a Couch Gymnast article about this little gymnast today and she is training a triple twisting double back! Mai Murakami Training Update | The Couch Gymnast I hope she will compete in London :)
At the end of 2010 I was diagnosed with tenosynovitis in my wrist and was advised to rest it for 3 weeks by my doctor. Over the last few months it has flared up again and I am thinking of buying a pair of panda paws to support my wrists for gym. Are they worth it and will they actually help? I...
So, i'm thinking of going on a road trip round america after university, so in 2016. Long way off yet! But anyway, which places are absolutely unmissable? I definitely want to go to Forks (Twihard, lol), but what other places should i consider?? :D
Yesterday i had the best practice I've had in a long time. I got my squat-on on bars back consistently, my free cartwheel on floor back and I did a spotted flick without bending my arms or legs like I normally do! :D
I've started doing some coaching recently and 1 of the girls in my group is struggling with her round offs. She has the right shape for a round off but she just doesn't push off the floor and lift her chest at the end. She gets into the handstand part and then just flops down with no block off...
Well, over here in England I just got my GCSE results. I'd been stressing out for days thinking I was going to fail them all! I actually got 1 A*,7 A's and 2 B's. :D
what is the correct way to spot a handstand? i've seen youtube videos of coaches holding the gymnast by the ankles, the knees or the thighs and i was wondering which was the correct way.
