WAG Reality Check re Div II or III Prospects

Yes! Sorry for the confusion. In our gym we just refer to it as a 10.1 start value (and yes...head coach has been a judge for many many years and understands the distinction, and this is still how they refer to it....) Most of our level 10s have at least one routine that has that "bonus...

WAG Reality Check re Div II or III Prospects

To answer your question I would ask what experience do your coaches have with coaching athletes to go on to compete in NCAA or USAG Collegiate gymnastics? Do they have any athletes that are currently being recruited or recently have been recruited? Do they have level 10s that are making JO...

    Not typical. Not acceptable!

    WAG DD not building muscle

Before modifying her diet, I would definitely consult with her pediatrician if you have any concerns about her size/weight/diet. I would definitely NOT be comparing her size/shape/build/musculature to that of her teammates. Every person is built differently and not all bodies are meant to...

WAG Inform college coach about scratching meets

I will echo what others have said... If they asked for her schedule, they are following her season's progress and will appreciate any updates you have to share, good or not so good. It is always best to be up front and let them know in advance why she isn't competing or is scratching events.

    WAG Div 1 Difficulty

That is amazing that your first year level 10s have the same difficulty as the athletes at a top D1 school. Since this is the case, I would imagine that your first year level 10s will soon commit to some of the top D1 schools, and they will likely have more specific information about...

Parents Nile Wilson's dad talks to parents

Surprisingly, I have never stumbled across this vlog, but I watched this entire video and really enjoyed it! He seems like a wonderful parent! There is so much great advice and important reminders to help even seasoned parents of athletes keep their child's sport in perspective, but at the...

    WAG Guinea Pigs for D1?

I am thinking this is directed at me, so I will respond :) I hear you loud and clear. Our Region had over 280 compete in 2018. It's crazy! We have been to JOs more than once, so I do understand how the Region competition and super teams work. It is indisputable that Region 1 is VERY strong...

I don't understand where you see animosity and I don't appreciate your tone.

    WAG Guinea Pigs for D1?

If this is the best gym in your area and re-locating is not an option, then you may not have a choice but to stay put and have confidence in your coaches. Keeping open communication with the coaches will be key in making sure that she stays on track. Once she hits level 10 and begins...

    WAG Guinea Pigs for D1?

I was there so I know who won. But thanks for the suggestion. I think you may be missing my point...I have 12+ years as a competitive gym mom with multiple level 10s. Been to JOs 6 times already and hopefully counting.... These rankings change year to year. Best wishes to your daughter in...

    WAG Guinea Pigs for D1?

https://www.flogymnastics.com/articles/6197701-level-10s-bring-top-scoring-potential-to-jo-nationals Check out which regions the top scoring qualifiers for 2018 JOs were from. I bet the girls in those age groups thought THEIR region was the toughest to qualify.

    WAG Guinea Pigs for D1?

This article states 2016 pre-JO rankings, and reflects the opinion of the person who wrote it, not fact. How does this prove Region 1 IS the best?

    Parents Hot gym

I think that is too hot to train, but I guess it depends on the individual and level of gymnastics...I imagine the sweating involved with those high of temps can make certain events/skills more dangerous and difficult. My level 10s wouldn't be able to safely train bars or beam in that kind of heat.

Wait, WHAT?!?! U of M and Penn??? Do you mean Michigan State and Penn State???

    WAG Nationals super team

YES!!! Accessibility and affordability is good! Minneapolis and Des Moines were our most expensive JO flights by far. Jackson had not much to do near the venue, and flying in was a nightmare! Ft Worth, Indy and Cincy were all good for most people we know coming from all over!

Parents Which side for level 4 routine? Left or right?

She sounds like a righty (in gymnastics) to me!--one of my daughters was this way. Easier to teach her to just switch her cartwheel to righty for beam and her turn on floor, since all of her leaps, splits and tumbling are good on her right side...she won't need to switch her roundoff...that can...
